Are Basketball Australia CoE the team to beat this season?

With both the women’s and men’s teams still undefeated, the youthful squads both had significant tests at home facing the Illawarra Hawks.

On the women’s side, young star Isla Juffermans had 22 points, 10 rebounds and two steals in 25 minutes -- as the women’s team took down the competitive Hawks by 36 points.

On the men’s side, Ben Henshall had a statement game with a 30-piece with five rebounds, five assists and four steals against the Hawks. NBL23 breakout star Davo Hickey continues to be on triple-double watch with 14 points, six assists and five rebounds while Harry Morris had a team-high 19 points.

Crusaders light it up at home

In a close clash, the Crusaders are proving to be a threat this season, knocking off the Canberra Nationals by nine points at home.

Sara Matthews remains the team’s star with another dominant stat line of 23 points and 15 rebounds, but the moment of the game goes to Darneka Rowe – who had a vicious ankle-breaker against the Nationals.

Junior Madut is taking over the 2023 NBL1 East

The South East Melbourne Phoenix star is rising to new heights in the 2023 NBL1 season, dropping 25 points against the formidable Maitland Mustangs and last week’s Foot Locker Player of the Week William Cranston-Lown.

After a productive NBL23 debut season, Madut looks ready to take the Norths Bears deep into the NBL1 East Finals this season.
