Northside Wizards 98 def Southern Districts Spartans 88
A 30-point performance from NBL star Lamar Patterson was not enough to lift Southern Districts Spartans over Northside Wizards at South Pine Sports Complex on Saturday night.
The Wizards improved to a 3-3 record with the 98-88 home win over Spartans.
Northside’s attack led by Logan Kyle (33 points including 5 of 10 three-pointers made) and Jesse Ghee (21 points, 8 assists and 4 steals) shook off a slow start and used a 7-2 run to close out the half to take the lead 39-37 at the break.
Cameron Thew (16 points, 6 rebounds) and Zach Williams-Hook (11 points, 6 rebounds) were Northside’s other major contributors.
Patterson, in his debut for Spartans, was joined by Josh Derksen (17 points) and Samuel Korst (12 points) in double figures for the visitors.
The Wizards (3-3) host Rockhampton Rockets on Friday night, while the Spartans (3-4) take on the Central Queenslanders on Sunday.

Brisbane guard Nicholas Stoddart tallied a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and his backcourt partner Tamuri Wigness contributed 14 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
Roar guard Kobe McDowell-White top scored for the home side with 21 points and Kian Dennis added 14 points.

Gold Coast Rollers 85 def by Sunshine Coast Phoenix 89

Sunshine Coast’s main four – Nelson Kahler (18 points), Jamaal Robateau (17 points), Darnell Robateau (17 points), and Oscar Cluff (16 points) – provided Phoenix with a potent offence.

Jaze Morris top scored for the Rollers with 24 points and Callum Dalton added 17 points.
Marquee Gold Coast player Jason Cadee dished up 12 assists but the Brisbane Bullets guard failed to find his range as he went 0-14 in the game including nine missed three-pointers.

Cairns Marlins 81 def by USC Rip City 82
USC Rip City have won back-to-back games on a North Queensland road trip after a close call 82-81 win over Cairns Marlins at Early Settler Stadium on Saturday night.
The wheels almost fell off as Rip City let a 14-point lead (71-57) going into the final quarter slip away as Marlins combo guard Mirko Djeric nailed back-to-back three-pointers to first tie and then take the lead (81-78) with 51 seconds on the clock.
The points dried up for Rip City, outscored 24-11 in the fourth, except for USC top scorer Isaih Tueta (24 points) with a crucial eight points in the last period. None more important than the Rip City captain’s lay-up in traffic for the go-ahead basket with three seconds left.
Tanner Krebs (22 points) and Kyle Zunic (15 points), who have gone 3-0 since joining the Sunshine Coast outfit – were USC’s other main contributors.
The Cairns trio of Majok Deng (15 points, 11 rebounds), Nathan Jawai (14 points), and Djeric (14 points), who also play for the city’s NBL franchise, were the Marlins top scorers.
Rip City (4-2) await Mackay on Sunday, while the Marlins have a bye in Round 7.
