Ipswich Force 97 def South West Metro Pirates 64
Ipswich Force kept in touch with the top eight with a 97-64 win over South West Metro Pirates at JBS Stadium on Sunday.
The Force (3-6) outscored the eighth-placed Pirates (4-6) in each quarter.
Ipswich guard Georgia Ralph hit 5 of 9 three-point attempts on her way to a game-high 27 points.
Amy Lewis and Abby Bishop (21 points each) were both on triple double watch as Lewis tallied 10 rebounds and six assists while Bishop pulled down 9 rebounds and 8 assists.
Steph Bairstow top scored for the Pirates with 17 points, while Amanda Johnson registered 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Northside Wizards 88 def Mackay Meteorettes 87
Northside Wizards upset Mackay Meteorettes in a one-point thriller at South Pine Sports Complex on Sunday.
Northside point guard Tiana Mangakahia hit the game-tying and go-ahead free throws to make it 88-87 with 12 seconds left. A hotly contested three-point attempt from Mackay’s Heidi Freeburn missed in the final seconds.
Courtney Woods scored a game-high 26 points including 4 of 6 made from deep, one of which gave the Wizards an 84-82 lead with 2.45 remaining.
The Wizards offence also had Mangakahia (20 points), Regan McCarty (19 points) and Anais Kirvan (10 points) in double figures.
Mackay led 44-40 at half-time and from there a see-sawing battle ensued with the scored locked up six times and the lead changing 12 times.
Chelsea Brook top scored for the Meteorettes with 25 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. She was joined by Mikaela Dombkins (21 points) and Jacqui Zelenka (19 points) in double figures for the visitors.
