NBL1 and Breast Cancer Network Australia are thrilled to continue their partnership in 2022.
NBL1 clubs across the country will show their support for Australians affected by breast cancer this Mother’s Day weekend through a range of partnership activities and events.
The NBL1 PLAY4BCNA Pink Sports Day round has been held in 2019 and 2021 (missing 2020 due to COVID). This season the round will again be held across Mother’s Day weekend to show support for all Australians affected by breast cancer and highlight that more than 20,000 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer each year along with the vital role that BCNA plays in working to support, inform, connect and represent these men, women and their families.
Each NBL1 conference and the clubs will be pinking up to PLAY4BCNA, with each conference – NBL1West, NBL1South, NBL1Central, NBL1East and NBL1North fundraising for BCNA with their own online event and donation page, at venue fundraising activities and pinking up on and off the court.
Many players will be playing in the BCNA Pink Lady basketball socks or laces, some clubs have developed custom playing kits along with many creative fundraising and fun pink activities planned for match day. Spectators are encouraged to wear some pink to the matches too!
Community basketball clubs and associations can get involved and come along to support their local NBL1 matches or sign up to host their own PLAY4BCNA Pink Sports Day at anytime through out the year. Registration is simple, online and free and BCNA supply a free support kit to help pink up and promote their event. A range of Pink Sports Day merchandise is also available to order to pink up or help fundraise at each event.

The NBL1 community understands and acknowledges the ripple effect that a breast cancer diagnosis has on family, friends and sporting communities. With 1 in 7 Australian women diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, it is important to share the message of awareness whilst helping to enable BCNA to ensure every Australian can access the very best support, information, treatment and care.
