Only two games of action for NBL1 South this Sunday, and it was a good day to be a Waverley basketball fan, with the Falcons getting two wins over the Braves.

Both games were close contests, neither decided by more than five points, but the Braves will be left with a bad taste in their mouth after both men’s and women’s units went down.

Check out how the games went below.

WOMEN

Bendigo Braves (65) def by Waverley Falcons (70)

This was a tight game, but the difference was made by depth - with the Braves not scoring a single bench point.

Carley Ernst was huge for Waverley, 23 points and nine rebounds, as was Rebecca Cole with 19, six rebounds and five assists.

The Braves starting five fought valiantly, but were not enough to overcome the Falcons.

BENDIGO 65 (Wilson 22, McLean 15, McKay 13)

WAVERLEY 70 (Ernst 23, Cole 19, O’Reilly, Mokrzycki and Locandro 6)

MEN

Bendigo Braves (74) def by Waverley Falcons (76)

This game couldn’t have been closer, with the game coming down to the final possession after four action-packed quarters.

Bendigo scored well - Bernard, Rosendale, Murphy, and McCauley all netting double figures, but they weren't enough to edge out the Falcons.

BENDIGO 74 (Rosendale 16, Bernard and McCauley 14)

WAVERLEY 76 (Kernich-Drew and Lewis 14, Dillon 13)
