A packed eight-game slate of NBL1 South games took place this Sunday, with some of the closest contests that the conference has seen so far this season.

Check out the games below.

WOMEN

Dandenong Rangers (79) def by Kilsyth Cobras (80)

A true nailbiter to kick off the day of basketball, Dandenong held on right until the end, but just couldn’t get over the top to beat the Cobras.

It was the battle of Lauren Scherf and Emilee Harmon in this one, both players netting 32 points, while Schelf had 18 rebounds to claim a monstrous double-double.

Both teams also had two extra players in double figures, the even match up represented in the one-point win.

DANDENONG 79 (Harmon 32, Sooalo 16, Fakalata 14)

KILSYTH 80 (Scherf 32, Booth 15, Curtin 14)

Waverley Falcons (63) def by Ballarat Miners (77)

Ballarat won three of the four quarters in this match, as the Miners cruised to a relatively easy win over the Falcons.

Cole and O’Reilly led Waverley, combining for 29 points, but the Falcons lacked scoring from the rest of the squad.

For Ballarat, they received a solid scoring effort from most of the team - Zitina Aokuso the most impressive with 20 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

WAVERLEY 63 (O’Reilly 15, Cole 14, Mokrzycki 10)

BALLARAT 77 (Aokuso 20, Melbourne 17, Cracknell 14)

Keilor Thunder (65) def by Nunawading Spectres (83)

The Thunder actually put together a solid second half against the Spectres, but they simply gave up too much ground in the first to have a true chance in this game.

Garrick was the clear key for the Thunder, with 17 points and six assists, but only one other player in double figures was not enough to claim the win.

For the Spectres, they had three players score at least 16 points, and their scoring dominance was too much for Keilor.

KEILOR 65 (Garrick 17, Bandilovska 11, Andriuolo 9)

NUNAWADING 83 (Mullings 17, Kunek and Brewster 16)

Melbourne Tigers (56) def by Sandringham Sabres (62)

A game that was much closer than it had any right to be, with one player carrying the Tigers to a single-digits defeat.

Tess Heal had 27 points for Melbourne, only two points off scoring half of the Tigers points.

Sandringham also struggled to score, but having multiple players in double digits saw them claim the win.

MELBOURNE 56 (Heal 27, Carmody 8, Hurley 6)

SANDRINGHAM 62 (Pineau 16, Nakkasoglu 13, Burke 9)

MEN

Dandenong Rangers (64) def by Kilsyth Cobras (79)

Kilsyth earned a comfortable victory against Dandenong in this game, claiming a 15-point win thanks to the spread outscoring of the team, who came within one point of every single member hitting double digits.

Most impressive for the Cobras was Deng Deng, who dropped a 20 point, 12 rebound double-double as his team cruised to victory.

Jacob Davison led Dandenong in scoring with 17, but only one other player joined him in double digits, not enough to stay competitive in this game.

DANDENONG 64 (Davison 17, Soukup 12, Eales 9)

KILSYTH 79 (Deng 20, MacDonald and Tomada 14)

Keilor Thunder (81) def by Nunawading Spectres (90)

The Spectres claim a big win over the Thunder in this game, edging out Keilor by eight points despite solid scoring on both teams.

Jacob Lampkin and Tyler Kidd both scored at least 20 points, with Lampkin grabbing 10 rebounds and Kidd dishing out nine assists.

But Jack Gondolfo led all scorers with 23 points and drove his team to the win.

KEILOR 81 (Lampkin 22, Kidd 20, Riak 12)

NUNAWADING 90 (Gandolfo 23, Swetalla 20, Barker 14)

Ballarat Miners (67) def by Waverley Falcons (74)

A spread out and low scoring effort was what the game between Ballarat and Waverley produced, with the Falcons taking a seven-point win.

Ballarat had three players in double digits, led by Jalon Miller off the bench with 19, while Deng Gak had an 11-point, 13-rebound double-double.

But Waverley’s five players in double figures - led by Dexter Kernich-Drew off the bench with 17 - was enough to secure the win.

BALLARAT 67 (Miller 19, Gak 11, Sapwell 10)

WAVERLEY 74 (Kernich-Drew 17, Conn 12, Lewis 11)

Melbourne Tigers (80) def by Sandringham Sabres (85)

Only five points separated these two teams come the final whistle, with the Sabres just slightly out-performing the Tigers.

All five of Melbourne’s starters hit double figures, led by Michael Wearne with 22.

However, it was the combined 49 points from Shea Ili and Tohiraukura Smith-Milner that secured Sandringham the win.

MELBOURNE 80 (Wearne 22, Chehhal 15, Elyazar, Gaze and Bradbury 12)

SANDRINGHAM 85 (Smith-Milner 25, Ili 24, Okwera 11)
