Ringwood Hawks 76 def Melbourne Tigers 60
The Ringwood Hawks have bounced back after a loss at the weekend, winning its fourth game in its last five outings against the Melbourne Tigers.
The Hawks started the game perfectly at home, opening up a 15-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
For Melbourne, simply putting the ball in the hoop was a struggle across much of the first half.
After being held to 14 first-quarter points, the Tigers managed only eight points in the second term, connecting on only three field goals and going scoreless for over six minutes.
Trailing by 22 points at the main break, Melbourne came out with a renewed focus in the third quarter, starting the term on an 8-0 run.
The Tigers closed the margin to 10 points on the back of some great shooting from Felix von Hofe, who splashed four triples in the quarter, however Ringwood refused to let the visitors come any closer to pulling off the upset.
The Hawks went on a 7-0 run of its own to close the term before running away with the victory in the final 10 minutes.
CJ Asuncion-Byrd led all scorers with 20 points, while teammates Adrien Sturt (19 points, 12 rebounds) and Matthew Fennell (15 points, 13 rebounds) each tallied impressive double doubles.
The loss is Melbourne’s ninth in a row and will keep the Tigers firmly on the bottom of the ladder.
