The final day of NBL1 West round 1 made sure to keep the energy going, with one game being pushed to overtime, whilst one basketball club got a leg up on their rivals.
It was tough going for the South West Slammers, going down to the Perth Redbacks on both the Men's and Women's sides.
Check out how the games went below.
WOMEN
South West Slammers (56) def by Perth Redbacks (93)
It was a rough outing for South West in the only NBL1 West game of the day, with the Slammers going down by 37 points to the Perth Redbacks.
Perth’s bigs absolutely feasted - Kayonna Lee had 14 points and 16 rebounds, Shenae Hartree 14 and 18, with five blocks.
For South West, Javene Fitch and Abby Hall had fifteen apiece, but no other player reached double digits.
SOUTH WEST 56 (Fitch 15, Hall 15, Chalk 9)
PERTH 93 (Lee 17, Hartree 14, Jakens 13)
MEN
Mandurah Magic (90) def by Geraldton Buccaneers (99)
This game was an absolute nailbiter, forced into overtime before the Buccaneers went on a run that would ultimately bring them the win.
As expected, both teams scored the ball at a high rate, led by Mandurah’s Dequan Abrom, who dropped a 30-piece on 46% shooting.
But it was Geraldton who prevailed, with five players scoring at least 14 points.
MANDURAH 90 (Abrom 30, Armour and Bowie 15)
GERALDTON 99 (Stewart 27, Coleman 19, Meunier 15)
South West Slammers (57) def by Perth Redbacks (89)
They had their share of highlight plays, but the South West Slammers didn’t have the capabilities to properly handle the Redbacks, losing by 32 points.
Surprisingly, it was Perth’s bench who provided the bulk of the points, with Denzel Jackson, Devan Craig, and Austin Clarke all hitting double digits.
Brody England and Caleb Van De Griend were the lone bright spots in what was a demoralising loss for the Slammers.

PERTH 89 (Grace 18, Clarke 15, Jackson 13)
