NBL1 West Star CJ Turnage Re-signs with the Wolfpack in Two Year Deal

The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of CJ Turnage for the 2024 & 2025 NBL1 West seasons.

Wolfpack fans are no stranger to the dominant force that is CJ Turnage. For the past two seasons, CJ has consistently dominated game after game with his flashy passes, defensive stops, and explosive moves at the basket. CJ is a player who takes pride in getting his teammates involved whenever he can, which reflects in his stats, where he recorded 7 or more assists in a game 7 times.

CJ was a major contributor to our successful playoffs run, where he tallied 3 double-doubles in four games including the Grand Final against the Geraldton Buccaneers. CJ finished the 2023 NBL1 West season top 10 in four major stat categories. Top 10 in total points, assists, rebounds and blocks. CJ is truly a one of a kind, versatile player and we can’t wait to see him back in green for the next two seasons.

“I am excited to be back with the Wolves! The past two years I’ve learned and grown a lot. I’ve met many good people that have made my time here in Perth worth staying long term. Moving forward we are hoping to bring a championship to the Wolfpack! The fans are always great support anywhere we play. As a club no one does better! I’m thrilled to be here for two more years, let’s go!”

Men’s Head Coach David Morrell had to say about CJ’s signing:

“We are thrilled to have CJ Turnage back with the Wolfpack for the next 2 years. It’s rare to have continuity in the import spot with a player of his calibre, and we consider ourselves lucky to be able to build a team with him as a core piece of our roster for multiple consecutive years. CJ is a special player and person to have around. In two years, he’s proven himself a great asset to our team culture – a guy who is a great teammate and committed to our team’s goals. He’s fun to play with, and all the guys we’ve had have enjoyed being his teammate. That’s something that is oftentimes underrated and overlooked in a player, but we value it greatly and do not take it for granted.

As a player he’s one of the strongest players physically in the league and he’s impossible to keep out of the paint as a driver. Combine that ability to collapse the defense with the fact that he’s one of the best playmakers in the league, and he’s going to generate all sorts of good looks for your offence. He’s definitely the sort of star player you want to keep around for as long as you can. CJ is working really hard this offseason, and I’m very excited to see what he can do in 2024.”
