The Eltham Wildcats NBL1 Women’s roster is taking shape with multiple key additions and returning players.
Taylah Wynne, Ally Marshall and Hayley Munro will all return to the Wildcats for the 2023 NBL1 South Season. These key players performed pivotal roles last season and will once again spearhead the Wildcats team according to coach Matt Bongetti.
“Taylah's ability to shoot the ball and stretch the floor for us is critical. She has been a great leader throughout the pre-season and I am looking forward to seeing her bring that experience into 2023.
“Hayley's ability to play multiple roles gives us great flexibility. She has a great knack for understanding what is needed and her experience is going to be crucial both on and off the court this season.
“Ally developed a lot last season playing many different roles for us. She was a highly talented junior who I can see taking a leap this season. Her energy on both ends of the floor is going to be important for our team.”
Claudia Armato is a new addition to the team, the 24-year-old point guard spent three years in college in America and in 2022 played for the Ipswich Force in NBL1 North. Bongetti believes she will provide a spark for his group this season.
“Claudia is a tireless worker who is team first. She is a true PG who gets everyone involved and is a problem for opposing guards defensively. Really excited to have her here Eltham.”
Teah Reichert is another new addition to the team. The 19-year-old centre last played for the Diamond Valley Eagles in NBL1 South where she averaged 6ppg and 8rpg. Bongetti is excited for Reichert’s growth this season after a couple of challenging years.
“Teah has had a tough couple of years with injury, but every week you can see glimpses of the potential she has coming through. She is a great defender who I am excited to see develop throughout the season.”
The NBL1 South season tips off this Saturday night (April 1st) at Diamond Valley. You can watch the Wildcats in action this season with an Eltham Wildcats NBL1 Membership. Simply visit https://elthamwildcats.nbl1.com.au/pages/nbl1-memberships for more information.
The NBL1 represents the highest level achievable for players, coaches, technical officials and game day staff in the Eltham Wildcats pathway. It provides individuals in the north-east of Melbourne with a chance to be exposed to the national leagues. The Eltham Wildcats aim to have teams that strongly represent the north-east of Melbourne and players who’ve come through the Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA).
