The Townsville Fire remain the only undefeated team in the WNBL after three rounds, thanks to a breakout game from NBL1 star Nadeen Payne.

Payne put up 18 points on 53.8 percent shooting from the field to go with eight boards to help the Fire defeat the Sydney Uni Flames 75-56.

The Melbourne Boomers follow closely behind Townsville in second spot on the ladder afer registering wins against Southside and Bendigo over the weekend.

In the 87-72 win over the Flyers, captain Cayla George stood up with 25 points on 62.5 percent from the field as well as 12 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Ipswich's Abby Bishop continued to dominate in her comeback season with 17 points on 50 percent shooting and five boards.

The Boomers followed up their win over Southside with an 81-56 victory over Bendigo where former Geelong Supercat Ezi Magbegor produced one of the best indivudual performances of the season so far.

Not only did she put up 21 points but she also grabbed 16 boards to go with nine dimes.

Hobart's Maddie Garrick top-scored for the Spirit with 17 points.

In the other game of the round, Forestville's Sam Simons literally did not miss a shot all night, nailing five of five from the field and two from two from beyond the arc.

This helped her Adelaide Lighting secure a 88-62 win over the UC Capitals, who were aided by nine points and 10 rebounds from Logan championship player Mikaela Ruef.

Former Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence star Jade Melbourne also added 18 points for the Caps.
