Courtney Woods had 33 points and Tera Reed 39 in the last night of NBL1 North regular season with Amandine Toi leading Logan Thunder to win over South West Metro Pirates despite Grace Champion's 36.

Tamuri Wigness delivered 30 points and 14 assists, Kody Stattmann 48 and Isaac Ayoubi 28 in a win to guarantee Rockhampton Rockets their NBL1 North playoff spot on the last night of the regular season on Saturday.

WOMEN

Brisbane Capitals (92) lost to Northside Wizards (100)

Courtney Woods delivered 33 points and the northside Wizards finished their season on a high with the 100-92 win over the Brisbane Capitals.

The Capitals were back home to finish their season trying to avoid a seventh straight defeat when hosting the Wizards at Auchenflower Stadium.

The Wizards were also out of finals contention meaning they won't be able to make a run at reaching a third straight grand final having won the championship in 2023, but they still wanted to finish off the season on a high.

The Wizards did manage to open up a seven-point lead in the first quarter before still leading 24-22 by quarter-time.

Northside then produced a 31-point second term with 12/20 shooting while the Caps managed 27 points too with 10/20 shooting.

The Wizards went into the half-time break leading 55-49 and they remained on top throughout the second half to end up securing the eight-point victory to end their season on a winning note.

Northside end the season with a 5-9 record with Courtney Woods producing 33 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals on 12/17 field goal shooting.

Alice O'Driscoll also had 22 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals, Cierra Walker 14 points, four boards, four assists and four steals, and Courtney Virgo 13 points, six assists and five rebounds.

The Capitals end up in last spot with a 3-11 record and having lost their last seven matches after their season promised so much early on when Miela Sowah was in the line-up.

Ashley Arlen top-scored for Brisbane to close the season with 29 points, five rebounds and four assists with 12/19 field goal shooting.

Tyla Stolberg added 21 points, six rebounds and four assists, Grace Ellis 11 points, 11 boards and six assists, and Keriana Hippolite 10 points and four assists.

BRISBANE CAPITALS 92 (Arlen 29, Stolberg 21, Ellis 11)

NORTHSIDE WIZARDS 100 (Woods 33, O'Driscoll 22, Walker 14)

Logan Thunder (102) defeated South West Metro Pirates (77)

Logan Thunder will enter the finals on a 13-game winning streak after Amandine Toi delivered 29 points as they overcame 36 from Grace Champion to beat the South West Metro Pirates 102-77.

Logan were already guaranteed of a top two finish coming into the last game of the regular season where they were hosting the Pirates at Bendigo Bank Cornubia Park Sports Centre.

The Thunder were also a chance to grab top spot should they win and the Southern Districts Spartans had a slip up while the Pirates arrived just looking to end their campaign on a positive note.

Logan did start well with four three-pointers in the first quarter to be leading 24-18 before another 28 points to 22 in the second term which saw the Thunder head into half-time leading 52-40.

The Thunder then made sure of the result with 31 points to 17 in the third frame while shooting 11/20 from the floor to the 6/13 from South West Metro.

The lead for Logan got out to 33 points in the last quarter and eventually they scored the 25-point victory to end the regular season with a 13-1 record in second spot with the 13-game winning streak.

Amandine Toi delivered 29 points and five assists with seven three-pointers for Logan in the win while Mikhaela Cann produced 16 points, 13 assists and five rebounds.

Leah Scott added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots, Prasayus Notoa 12 points, eight boards, five assists and three steals, and Bride Kennedy-Hopoate 11 points and six rebounds.

South West Metro end their season with a 4-10 record and having lost their last three matches with Grace Champion ending on a high with 36 points and eight rebounds with 5/10 three-point shooting.

Beyonce Bea added 17 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists, Bronte Corke seven points and two boards, and Steph Bairstow seven points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

SOUTH WEST METRO PIRATES 77 (Champion 36, Bea 17, Bairstow 7, Corke 7)

Southern Districts Spartans (89) defeated Sunshine Coast Phoenix (86)

The Southern Districts Spartans survived a furious finish from the Sunshine Coast Phoenix to guarantee top spot with the 89-86 victory.

Coming into the final round match up at Rowland Cowan Stadium and the Spartans were guaranteed of a top two finish, but needed to win stay in first place while the Phoenix were guaranteed of playing finals and it was just a matter of finishing fifth or sixth.

With both teams locked away for finals, it was a nice tune up and it was Southern Districts leading 28-23 by quarter-time, but then the Phoenix turned that around to open up their own four-point lead after a 7-0 run in the second term.

The Spartans then responded with seven straight points of their own and by half-time it was them still leading 48-43.

Southern Districts turned that into a 13-0 run into the second half and that saw their lead grow to 14 points, and the Spartans were still on top 75-61 by three quarter-time.

Sunshine Coast weren’t ready to accept the defeat, though, and when Erin Bollmann knocked down a three ball with just under two minutes to play, and suddenly the Phoenix were back within five points and they had all the momentum.

Kalani Purcell did steady with a jumper almost a minute later which ultimately secured the win for Southern Districts but not without Sunshine Coast still scoring the last four points courtesy of Kayla Mathews.

They did end up three points shot of a miraculous comeback and in the end the win was enough to secure the Spartans top spot with a six-game winning streak and 13-1 record for the season.

Jess McDowell-White continued her standout form for Southern Districts with 22 points and three assists with 6/10 shooting from behind the three-point arc.

Kalani Purcell also had 15 points, three rebounds and three assists, Taylah Simmons 12 points, seven assists, four steals and three boards, and Nicole Fransson 11 points and seven rebounds.

Sunshine Coast will finish in fifth position ahead of an elimination final match up with the Mackay Meteorettes and holding a 7-7 record.

Erin Bollmann delivered 30 points, nine rebounds and four assists with 4/5 three-point shooting for the Phoenix with Shannon Ryan contributing 18 points and 11 boards, Kayla Mathews 17 points, five assists and three rebounds, and Amy Browne nine points, five boards and two assists.

SOUTHERN DISTRICTS SPARTANS 89 (J McDowell-White 22, Purcell 15, Simmons 12)

SUNSHINE COAST PHOENIX 86 (Bollmann 30, Ryan 18, Mathews 17)

Cairns Dolphins (82) defeated Townsville Flames (75)

Cairns and Townsville had a finals dress rehearsal on Saturday night with the Dolphins getting the better of the Flames with the 82-75 victory.

The Dolphins and Flames were both guaranteed of playing finals coming into the Saturday night match up at Trinity Ford Stadium with Cairns to either finish third or fourth, and Townsville fifth or sixth.

The Dolphins were back home and on a three-game winning streak with Cayla George back in the line-up fresh off being part of Australia's gold medal winning Asia Cup team in China.

Townsville was holding the narrow 19-17 lead by the end of the first quarter but Cairns worked their way on top in the second period with 26 points to 19 to go into half-time leading 43-38.

Things remained tight in the third term with the Flames outscoring the Dolphins 20 to 18 with the visitors even briefly grabbing the lead.

It was just a three-point lead by three quarter-time for Cairns but Townsville was able to draw back level when Sam Bowman knocked down a three-pointer with just under five minutes to play.

Summah Evans was able to knock down a three too for Cairns to be back up by three before both Teyahna and Taryn Bond scored to put the Dolphins back up five, and from there they secured the seven-point win.

The win sees Cairns finish the regular season with a 10-4 record and to stay in third position with a four-game winning streak.

Townsville also finishes sixth at 7-7 and that means that the two teams will meet all over again also in Cairns in an elimination final to open the playoffs.

Taryn Bond ended up top-scoring for the Dolphins with 21 points and four rebounds on 9/12 field goal shooting with Teyahna Bond contributing 15 points, four assists and three boards.

Leichan Williams also had 14 points and three rebounds, Aimee Brett 11 points and three boards, and the returning Cayla George five points, 20 rebounds and 11 assists.

Chailee Ward top-scored for Townsville by hitting 4/5 from downtown on her way to 18 points and four assists with Tayla Dalton adding 13 points, three rebounds and three assists, Sam Bowman 13 points, nine boards, five steals and three assists, and Mia Murray 11 points, five assists and four rebounds.

CAIRNS DOLPHINS 82 (Taryn Bond 21, Teyahna Bond 15, Williams 14)

TOWNSVILLE FLAMES 75 (Ward 18, Dalton 13, Bowman 13)

Rockhampton Cyclones (74) lost to Mackay Meteorettes (101)

The Mackay Meteorettes geared up for their finals campaign with the 101-74 road win over the defending champion Rockhampton Cyclones with Monique Bobongie and Amari Robinson combining for 51 points.

Rockhampton might not have been able to break into the finals as defending champions no matter the result at Bravus Arena but beating a finals bound team would have been a positive way at least to end their title defence.

Mackay were guaranteed of playing finals no matter the result while a win could still give them a chance of finishing third depending on what happened with Cairns against Townsville at the same time.

The Meteorettes got off to the better of the start with 27 points to 18 in the first quarter on the back of shooting 4/6 from three-point range to 1/7 from the Cyclones.

It was another 32 points to 23 from the Meteorettes in the second frame which saw them head into the half-time break leading 59-41 thanks to shooting 23/43 from the field opposed to 16/40 from the Cyclones.

It was more of the same from Mackay throughout the second half with 26 points to 20 in the third frame, and 16 to 13 in the fourth to lead by as much as 33 points and to end up winning by 27.

The result sees the Meteorettes finish the season with a 10-4 record and in fourth position to set up an elimination final against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.

Monique Bobongie showed just why she's one of the most exciting young talents in the country by returning from the Under-19 World Cup and delivering 28 points, seven steals, five assists and five rebounds with 4/8 three-point shooting for Mackay.

Amari Robinson added 23 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Tori Rouse 13 points and five boards, Nikita Van Wyk nine points and six boards, and Emme Shearer six points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Rockhampton's season as defending champions and on the back of playing in the last two grand final series' has come to an end with a 5-9 record and having lost their past four matches.

Alana Paewai finished with 18 points, five assists and five steals in the loss for the Cyclones with 4/9 three-point shooting while Akaysha Muggeridge added 18 points, six rebounds and three assists with 3/5 shooting from beyond the arc.

Mary Goulding also had 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals, and Chelsey Perry 10 points, eight boards and two assists.

ROCKHAMPTON CYCLONES 74 (Muggeridge 18, Paewai 18, Goulding 14)

MACKAY METEORETTES 101 (M Bobongie 28, Robinson 23, Thompson 14)

Ipswich Force (84) lost to Gold Coast Rollers (105)

The Gold Coast Rollers have finished the season with three straight wins with Tera Reed putting up 39 points in the 105-84 win over an Ipswich Force team that also got 39 from Kahlaijah Dean.

Coming into the last round match up at Ipswich Basketball Stadium and both teams were out of the playoff race with the Force looking to snap a losing run while Rollers were attempting to win a third straight game.

Only a couple of weeks ago and Gold Coast hadn’t won a game and were on a 19-game losing slide, but all of a sudden they were finishing the first season under Australian basketball great Mark Bradtke with some positive momentum.

It was a tight opening to the contest with Gold Coat narrowly leading 19-18 by quarter-time before both teams turned things up a gear in the second term combining for 56 points on 22/33 shooting with 9/15 from behind the three-point line.

That saw Ipswich outscore Gold Coast 30 points to 26 and to go into the half-time break leading 48-45.

The Rollers turned things around spectacularly in the third quarter with 34 points to 17 with shooting 11/21 from the field opposed to the 5/19 from Ipswich.

As a result Gold Coast turned a nine-point deficit early in the third term into a 14-point lead which grew out to 23 and they ended up winning by 21.

It's a positive way for Gold Coast to end a season with three straight wins after beginning with the 11 consecutive defeats with Tera Reed outstanding with 39 points, seven assists and six rebounds with 17/20 shooting from the field.

Juna Umezawa also had 21 points and four rebounds, Tara Manumaleuga 16 points, six boards, three assists and two steals, Jasmin Howe 14 points, four rebounds and two assists, and Emma Petrie nine points and 10 boards.

Ipswich end their season with a 4-10 record and having lost their last three matches with Kahlaijah Dean doing all she could with 39 points and three rebounds with 12/23 shooting from the field, 5/12 from three-point range and 10/13 at the foul line.

Elissa Brett added 15 points and six rebounds, Olivia West 14 points and two boards, and Hannah Young seven points and 12 rebounds.

IPSWICH FORCE 84 (Dean 39, Brett 15, West 14)

Brisbane Capitals (109) defeated Northside Wizards (96)

The Brisbane Capitals secured a top two finish in the NBL1 North with the 109-96 home win to close the regular season against the Northside Wizards.

The Caps were back home at Auchenflower Stadium for the last night of the regular season needing a win to avoid potentially slipping to finish as low as fifth while the Wizards had lost three straight and were just trying to finish on a positive note.

Brisbane did start the game strongly with 30 points to 18 in the first quarter before then adding another 27 points to 22 in the second term on the way to leading 57-40 at half-time thanks to shooting 19/33 from the field opposed to the 14/42 from the Wizards.

That lead for the Caps grew to as much as 21 points throughout the second half and despite 34 points from Northside in the last quarter, Brisbane still went on to secure the 13-point victory.

The win sees the Capitals close the regular season with a 9-5 record and to finish in second position to earn the week's break to open the playoffs.

Anthony Kopcikas delivered 26 points and six assists with 5/9 three-point shooting in the win for Brisbane with Kai Bloom producing 21 points, four boards and three assists.

Isaih Tueta also had 12 points, five assists and four rebounds, Matthew Johns 11 points, eight boards and six assists, Geordan Papacostas 10 points and four rebounds, Deng Mayot 10 points and four boards, and Uche Dibiamaka 10 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

The Wizards finish the regular season with a 6-8 record with the four straight defeats with Tyeler Williams finishing his strong campaign with another 24 points, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals.

Durrell McDonald also delivered 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Nikau McCullough 16 points, four boards and two assists, Jed Richardson 13 points and seven rebounds, and Emerson Juhasz 11 points with 3/7 three-point shooting.

BRISBANE CAPITALS 109 (Kopcikas 26, Bloom 21, Tueta 12)

NORTHSIDE WIZARDS 96 (Williams 24, McDonald 18, McCullough 16)

Logan Thunder (82) lost to South West Metro Pirates (92)

While the finals proved just out of reach for the South West Metro Pirates, they finished the season with a 92-82 win over Logan Thunder with Kai Woodfall and Lachlan Anderson combining for 52 points.

Coming into the clash at Bendigo Bank Cornubia Park Sports Centre and the Thunder were out of finals contention having lost four straight while the only hope for the Pirates was to win and then hope everything else fell their way.

Logan opened up a nine-point lead in the first quarter and were still on top 26-20 by quarter-time but South West Metro hit back in the second term and as a result went into the half-time break leading 48-47.

The Pirates then dominated further in the third quarter with 24 points to 10 in the third quarter with 9/18 shooting up against the 4/15 from the Thunder as their lead grew to 72-57 by three quarter-time.

South West Metro turned that into the eventual 10-point victory to finish with a 7-7 record but it wasn’t quite enough to end up in a playoff position.

Lachlan Anderson produced 26 points and seven rebounds with 5/9 shooting from beyond the arc for the Pirates with Kai Woodfall contributing 26 points with 7/16 three-point shooting.

Dragan Stajic also had 13 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and two steals, Jarred Bairstow 13 points, eight boards and four assists, and Brendan Teys seven points and six rebounds.

Logan finishes the season with five straight losses and a 5-9 record with Zac Triplett delivering 27 points, eight rebounds and five assists with 7/15 three-point shooting.

Tyrone Fui also had 19 points and three assists, Callum Dalton 16 points, 16 rebounds and four assists, and Tane Kirisome nine points.

SOUTH WEST METRO PIRATES 92 (Woodfall 26, Anderson 26, Bairstow 13, Stajic 13)

Southern Districts Spartans (101) defeated Sunshine Coast Phoenix (71)

The Southern Districts Spartans geared up for the finals with a fourth straight win beating the Sunshine Coast Phoenix 101-71 on the back of 30 points and 14 assists from Tamuri Wigness.

The Spartans came into the contest at home at Rowland Cowan Stadium to close the regular season needing a win to confirm their playoff position while the Phoenix had already locked in their spot, but could become regular season champs with a victory.

That meant there was plenty on the line for both teams coming into the match up and it was Southern Districts who started on fire with 28 points to 17 in the first quarter while making 3/4 from downtown to the 0/7 from the Phoenix.

The lead for the Spartans got out to as much as 20 points in the second frame and the home team were still leading 45-35 by the half-time interval.

That lead was 13 points by three quarter-time before Southern Districts then dominated the last quarter with 36 points to 19 on the back of shooting 13/21 from the field to the 4/14 from the Phoenix.

That saw the Spartans end up with a dominant 30-point victory to finish the regular season in fourth position with an 8-6 record and having won their past four matches ahead of now playing the defending champion Mackay Meteors in an elimination final.

Tamuri Wigness delivered a spectacular performance for Southern Districts with 30 points, 14 assists, four rebounds and three steals with Blake Jones contributing 18 points, six boards, three blocks and two assists.

Veteran centre Matt Hodgson also had 18 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and two assists with Max Kerle adding 13 points, five assists and three boards, and Ben Hastings 12 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Despite the loss, the Phoenix finishes in third place at 9-5 but they did miss the chance of ending up in top spot and now don't get a week off with their match up next week in an elimination final against the Rockhampton Rockets.

Darnell Robateau ended up with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals for Sunshine Coast with Jamaal Robateau adding 15 points, four boards and four assists, Nelson Kahler 14 points, two rebounds and two blocks, and Earnest Ross 13 points, two boards and two assists.

SOUTHERN DISTRICTS SPARTANS 101 (Wigness 30, Hodgson 18, Jones 18)

SUNSHINE COAST PHOENIX 71 (D Robateau 16, J Robateau 15, Kahler 14)

Cairns Marlins (138) defeated Townsville Heat (108)

With both Far North Queensland teams out of the playoff race, they put on quite the show combining for 246 points and with Kody Stattmann putting up 48 of them as the Cairns Marlins beat the Townsville Heat 138-108.

Coming into the clash at Trinity Ford Stadium and Cairns were attempting to avoid losing their last four games of the season while Townsville were looking to make it consecutive wins to close things out.

They would combine for 56 points in the first quarter with Cairns leading 32-24 by quarter-time but that was just the start of what was to come.

The Marlins piled on 41 points in the second frame with shooting 12/17 from the field with 7/9 from downtown while the Heat went at 9/24 and 4/14.

Cairns kept that hot scoring form going in the second half with another 65 points to the 55 from Townsville with the Marlins shooting 26/38 for the half up against the 21/53 from the Heat.

That saw the Marlins end up scoring the 30-point win thanks to putting 138 points on the board with a scorching 65 per cent shooting with 19/35 from three-point range and 25/29 at the foul line as they finished the season with the win to improve to a 4-10 record.

Kody Stattmann is preparing for another season with the Taipans in the NBL and had a scintillating finish to the NBL1 season with 48 points, 10 rebounds and two assists on 17/24 shooting from the field, 5/11 from downtown and 9/11 at the charity stripe.

Damon Heuir added 24 points with 6/7 three-point shooting, Ky Stattmann 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Travis Drinnan 15 points and two assists, Kian Dennis 12 points, seven boards, four assists and two steals, and James Mitchell two points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.

Townsville did manage 31 extra shots in the game but they only managed to shoot 39 per cent from the field and 28 per cent from three-point territory while unable to capitalise on their 25 offensive rebounds and 20 turnovers from Cairns.

Kuany Kuany top-scored for the Heat with 17 points to go with seven rebounds and two steals with Ethan Betts adding 16 points and three assists, Grant Teichmann 14 points and three assists, Max Norton 12 points and five rebounds, Chris Cedar 11 points, three boards and three steals, and Richard Peachey 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

CAIRNS MARLINS 138 (Kody Stattmann 48, Heuir 24, Ky Stattmann 20)

TOWNSVILLE HEAT 108 (Kuany 17, Betts 16, Teichmann 14)

Rockhampton Rockets (102) defeated Mackay Meteors (94)

The Rockhampton Rockets confirmed their place in the finals for 2025 with the 102-94 home win against the Mackay Meteors with Isaac Ayoubi delivering 28 points.

Coming into the clash at Bravus Arena to close the regular season and both teams were locked in a battle over positions in the bottom part of the top six.

Rockhampton had to bounce back from last week's loss to the Townsville Heat for them to play finals while Mackay could join the teams at the top of the table on nine wins.

It was a flying start from the Rockets with 31 points to 18 in the first quarter thanks to hitting 5/11 from three-point territory before that lead got out to as much as 18 points in the second frame.

However, Mackay shot themselves back into the contest with 31 points in the second term and by half-time Rockhampton's lead was back to just 54-49.

The Meteors kept that momentum going with the defending champions even managing to grab the lead during the third term before the Rockets were leading narrowly 77-73 by three quarter-time.

Rockhampton were able to seal the deal on the win with 25 points to 21 in the final term which sees them finish on a 7-7 record and to finish in sixth position ahead of Ipswich and South West Metro.

The Rockets will now take on the Sunshine Coast Phoenix in an elimination final with Isaac Ayoubi delivering 28 points, four steals and two assists.

Jalen Graham also had 20 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, Malcolm Bernard 16 points, 11 assists and six boards, Harrison Hornery 15 points and nine rebounds, and Malok Majak 11 points, four boards and two assists.

Mackay finishes the season in fifth position with an 8-6 record to set up an elimination final for the reigning champs against the Southern Districts Spartans.

Makuach Maluach top-scored for the Meteors with 29 points, six rebounds and three assists with Jaxon Brenchley adding 18 points, five boards, three assists and two steals, Akol Mawein 12 points and eight rebounds, and Manny Malou 12 points, four boards, three steals and two assists.

ROCKHAMPTON ROCKETS 102 (Ayoubi 28, Graham 20, Bernard 16)

MACKAY METEORS 94 (Maluach 29, Brenchley 18, Mawein 12, Malou 12)

Ipswich Force (85) lost to Gold Coast Rollers (92)

Despite the presence of DJ Mitchell and Lamar Patterson, Ipswich Force have missed the finals in the NBL1 North with Gold Coast Rollers securing top spot by beating them 92-85.

The Force and Rollers came into the last round match up at Ipswich Basketball Stadium with plenty to play for with Ipswich needing to win to reach the playoffs while Gold Coast had to win to lock away top spot.

Ipswich needed to bounce back from a loss to the Southern Districts Spartans while Gold Coast were looking to make it four straight wins heading into the finals.

The two teams then couldn’t be separated by quarter-time with scores locked away at 27-27.

The Rollers then added another 27 points to 24 in the second period to go into half-time leading 54-51 on the back of shooting 18/38 from the field to 21/37, but 14/18 at the foul line to 6/8.

Ipswich did manage to return to the lead for 45 seconds of the third quarter, but it wouldn’t last with Gold Coast taking back control to open up a 10-point lead once more and then to secure the eventual seven-point victory.

It's a significant result for both teams as well with Gold Coast finishing at 9-5 with four straight wins and to secure top spot while Ipswich misses the playoffs in seventh position at 7-7 and having lost the last two matches.

Preston Le Gassick finished with 29 points, three assists and two rebounds for Gold Coast with Reuben Te Rangi producing 23 points, 12 boards and two assists, and Jensen Bradtke 11 points and 12 rebounds ahead of a first NBL season as a development player with the Brisbane Bullets.
