Moses Nuangki, Eastern Mavericks’ guard in NBL1 Central has revealed one of the key factors in his strong 2024 start.
Averaging 16.1 points on 40.7% shooting from the field, the 23-year-old has come off some strong performances to kick off his first season with the Mavericks.
“I love it, every training, every game, every time we hang out off the court I love it,” Nuangki said on the NBL1 Central Unleashed podcast.
Increasing his minutes this season, Nuangki had praised first-time coach Ryan Meakin on making an impact on his game.
Nuangki made the trip over to the Eastern Mavericks in the offseason after a season with the Norwood Flames.
“I’ve always worked consistently, I would say more opportunity and not only that, I have great teammates surrounding me who are good players and make good decisions. They make me look really good,” he said.
“Coach Ryan is an exceptional coach, he’s a great coach. He makes me look great out there, and I’m grateful that I’m in a good situation.”
“His impact has been huge, he’s very cool, calm and collected but he also pushed us when we need to, and he makes sure that we’re always getting to our full potential,” Nuangki said.
“That’s what we need in a coach, someone that’s trying to push each and every player to their full potential and he’s been doing a great job with that.”
The Mavericks are fifth on the NBL1 Central men’s ladder, already matching their four wins from last season. They'll look to break a three-game losing streak against the North Adelaide Rockets.
“This season we have the right pieces and the right guys that have come together, we’ve made something pretty good happen.”
The Mavericks will take on the Rockets on Saturday night at 8:15pm local time. You can watch the game via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App.
