Pioneers Sign Versatile Forward Chier Maker on One-Year Deal

The Mount Gambier Pioneers are pleased to announce the signing of Chier Maker on a one-year contract for the 2026 NBL1 South season.

Maker joins the Pioneers following a solid 2025 NBL1 West campaign with the East Perth Eagles, where the 202cm forward featured in all 24 games as a starter. He averaged 12.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, while shooting an efficient 57.8 percent from the field.

Across his NBL1 career, Maker has consistently demonstrated his ability to impact games on both ends of the floor. He enjoyed productive seasons with the Rockingham Rockets and Darwin Salties, averaging 16.3 points per game in 2023 and 16.5 points per game in 2024, highlighting his scoring consistency at NBL1 level.

Maker brings further experience from the NCAA, having played collegiately at Idaho State University, where he averaged 10.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game during the 2019–20 season. His size, athleticism, and versatility allow him to contribute as both an interior presence and a mobile forward capable of stretching the floor.

The addition of Maker adds depth, experience, and flexibility to the Pioneers’ frontcourt as the club continues to build its roster ahead of the 2026 NBL1 South campaign.

Castec Rural Pioneers Men’s Head Coach Pete Godfrey said Maker’s signing adds experience to the team.

Maker expressed his excitement about joining Mount Gambier and competing in the NBL1 South.
