The Sutherland Sharks have signed Evan Apolony, Lauren McCaffrey, Hannah Clinen, Mia Bruce and Kevin Achampong for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 East season.
Apolony re-joins the Sharks for his ninth season in the black and blue.
Head coach Adrian Dark said: "Evan has been a huge part of this program for such a long time now, his leadership and the positive impact he has on this group is amazing.
"He is one of our strongest on-ball defenders and embraces his role in this team so well.
"I’m over the moon to have Evan’s leadership and infectious desire to compete around our group again in 2022."
Speaking about McCaffrey, Women's Head Coach Shelley Bates said: "Besides being a phenomenal teammate, Lauren is a speedy guard who will give us a different look.
"Her pace makes her both hard to guard and a pest for other guards to deal with.
"Plus her shot is silky smooth so she’s another great addition to our squad."
After a breakout season in 2021, Achampong returns to the Sharks for the inaugural NBL1 East Season.
Coach Dark said: "We got a taste last season of what Kevin could do last year and I felt his confidence really grow as the season progressed.
"I’m excited to see Kevin continue his development with us- he is such a powerful and strong athlete.
"It makes him really hard to defend and with his offensive skills expanding I feel once again we will see Kevin showcase his ability to impact games consistently this season."
Speaking about Clinen, Coach Bates said: "Hannah has great length and is a strong rebounder.
"She’s valuable to us because of her length and mobility.
"She can add a lot at both ends!
"She’s a Sutherland junior who has been with the group for a while and continues to develop her skillset every year."
Rounding out the women's roster is Bruce.
"Mia is an up-and-coming force in this league," Bates said.
"She’s big, strong, and skillful - a dangerous combination.
"At six foot three, Mia will help anchor our defence and is another tough addition to our frontcourt.
"2022 is looking very BIG at this stage!"
