Richard Hill to Lead NBL1 South Select Team Against the Adelaide 36ers

The Pioneers Basketball Club is proud to share that our very own Head Coach, Richard Hill, has been appointed to lead the inaugural NBL1 South Select Team in their upcoming clash against the Adelaide 36ers.

The exhibition game will take place at the Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre in Mount Gambier on Thursday, 11 September, with tip-off at 7:30pm.

Fresh off being named the 2025 NBL1 South Coach of the Year, Richard’s appointment is a fitting recognition of his success, experience, and leadership throughout his 13 seasons with the Pioneers. His track record of championship success and player development will set the perfect foundation for guiding the league’s emerging and established talent in this showcase event.

Joining Richard on the NBL1 South Select coaching staff will be:

• First Assistant Coach: Zach Moult (Kilsyth Cobras)
• Second Assistant Coach: Brent Reid (Geelong United)
• Team Manager: Deb Bowman (Mount Gambier Pioneers)

NBL1 South League Manager Alison Cody said the appointments reflect the strength and depth of leadership across the conference.

Pioneers Basketball Club team manager Deb Bowman will manage the team and will provide our athletes with the best possible environment to showcase themselves against the Adelaide 36ers.

The NBL1 South Select Team roster is currently being finalised and will feature a mix of emerging stars and proven performers from across the league.
