The Mavericks edged out Forestville 120-119 on Saturday at St Francis de Sales Community Sports Centre in a high-scoring thriller that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Broderick Robinson was simply unstoppable for the Mavericks, pouring in 41 points on incredibly efficient shooting, connecting on nine of 14 attempts from outside (64.3 percent) while dishing six assists. The Mavericks caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down 17 triples at a blistering 43.6 percent clip compared to Forestville's 33.3 percent. BJ Symons added 25 points and seven boards, while the team recorded an impressive 28 assists.
For Forestville, Daniel Johnson put on a show with 36 points on 66.7 percent shooting, including 11 of 15 from inside the arc. Dejan Vasiljevic contributed 30 points, including a perfect 12-for-12 performance from the charity stripe. Alexander Starling stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals. Despite controlling the paint with 58 points inside compared to the Mavericks' 44, Forestville couldn't overcome their opponents' outside shooting.
