Sabres secure services of Turnbull and Rasmussen

The Sturt Sabres have added talented duo Jack Turnbull and Keanu Rasmussen to their roster for the 2021 NBL1 South season.

The Sturt Sabres have added talented duo Jack Turnbull and Keanu Rasmussen to their roster for the 2021 NBL1 Central season.

Turnbull re-signs with the club after graduating from Mayville State University in 2019.

At Mayville, he led the team in three-point shooting with 40 per cent, complementing his average of just under 10 points per game in his senior year.

Sturt Head Coach Paul Rigoni said he looks forward to Turnbull’s output both on and off the court in the 2021 season.

“Jack is a great communicator and team player who is willing to sacrifice for the team,” he said.

“He plays both ends of the floor, shoots the ball at a high per cent from three-point range, knows when to make the extra pass to find an open teammate, and will surprise teams with his hook shot.

“We look forward to having Jack’s contribution this season both on and off the floor.”

Rasmussen is a new face in the Sturt line-up this year after spending some time with the Centre of Excellence on a scholarship.

The young talent spent his junior career at Sturt and looks forward to returning to the Sabres in 2021.

Sturt Head Coach Rigoni is excited to see what Rasmussen can bring to the Sabres’ line-up this season.

“Keanu is a very talented young player and will be our spark on the offensive end,” he said.

“His athleticism will allow him to get on the rim and knock down open shots on the perimeter.

“We look forward to seeing Keanu showcase his abilities wearing the double blue.”
