Short averaged 11.7 points, six rebounds and 4.4 assists as one of the best two-way guards in the NBL1 South last season.
Short said he is thrilled to be back and ready to help take the team to another level in 2023.
“I am extremely excited to commit to Eltham for the next few years,” he told the Wildcats.
“The club has a great community feel to it which made it a seamless transition last season, so it was a no-brainer to continue playing with the Wildcats.
“Although our win-loss record was disappointing last season, we showed glimpses in the back half of the year of a team that can make a push deep into finals. I am looking forward to packing out our new stadium and cannot wait to begin our season on April 1st.”
Head Coach Craig Stratford is excited to have his key guard return and believes his impact is crucial not only on the court but off it in the local community.
“Signing Sam to a multi-year deal with Eltham was a priority for our program,” Stratford explained.
Sam works in our local community; coaches Eltham’s aspiring young talent and has a big role to play in our Senior program both as a high-quality athlete and person. We are excited to have Sam wearing Eltham Red again in 2023.”
