After a return to the game back in 2022, joining the Goldfields Giants’ women’s program as they joined the NBL1 West, Kalgoorlie local product Ashlee Sidebottom heads into her tenth season in the SBL/NBL1 with a renewed vigor and a leadership role within the Giants this 2024 NBL1 West season.
With 165 games now under her belt with Mandurah, Rockingham and Goldfields, the return home to Kalgoorlie-Boulder for Ashlee has allowed her to play in front of family and friends, in her old junior stadium, and now with new women’s mentor Jaymi Worthington at the helm, a push towards 200 games is on the cards.
“I’m excited to sign again because I believe in the team’s potential and am eager to contribute to their success. Also really excited to see what we can do with the new head coach this year," Sidebottom said.
“Preseason has been intense but productive. We’ve been working hard to fine-tune our skills and build chemistry as a team.”
As we head towards our opening game in 2024, Sidebottom reflected on her role and her ability to play back at home.
“Absolutely looking forward to the season. My personal goal is to improve my performance and contribute to the team’s success, while our team goal is to win the championship, with a very young team top 4 would be amazing," she said.
“I just want to express my gratitude to the family and friends for their support and let them know we’re ready to give our all on the court.”
