Hobart then held Nunawading to just eight points in the second quarter on 4/19 shooting with the Chargers well in control leading 42-22 going into the half-time break.

The game then underwent a dramatic transformation after half-time starting with the Spectres putting up 22 points ton nine in the third period.

Hobart Chargers (87) lost to Nunawading Spectres (88)

Jack Gandolfo completed the game winning three-point play for the Nunawading Spectres to claim the thrilling 88-87 road victory over the Hobart Chargers.

The Chargers were back on their home floor at South East Stadium having lost their past three matches but welcoming back Will Cranston-Lown into the line-up.

The Spectres arrived to begin their Tasmanian double-header also looking to bounce back from a loss to Keilor Thunder, and not much separated the two teams most of the evening.

Each team shot 10/21 from the field in the first quarter with Nunawading leading narrowly 26-25 having hit a couple more threes while Hobart did make one more foul shot.

The Spectres knocked down another 4/8 from downtown in the second quarter to slightly outscore Hobart 23 points to 22 which saw the visitors clinging to a 49-47 lead going into the half-time interval.

Nunawading were able to open up a 10-point lead in the third quarter and were still 10 points to the good to start the fourth period when Jack Gandolfo knocked down a three ball.

Hobart responded with the next nine points which started with a dunk to Ole Angerstein and topped off with a triple to Joe Chilcott to bring it back to a one-point ball game.

It was big shot for big shot the rest of the way with the lead continually changing hands, but in the end the biggest play of the game was an and-one completion for the Spectres from Gandolfo with just over 30 seconds to play.

That gave Nunawading the one-point lead and would be the last score of the game following a turnover each, and a missed shot for the Chargers that potentially could have been the winner by Angerstein.

The one-point win sees Nunawading improve to 4-4 on the season ahead of playing the North West Tasmania Thunder on Saturday with Gandolfo not only hitting the winner but delivering 30 points on 6/13 three-point shooting.

Brian Mack II also had 22 points and eight rebounds, Cameron Cranston 11 points, eight boards, four assists and two blocked shots, and Daniel Baxter four points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Chargers have now lost four in-a-row for a 4-5 record with Jacob Richards finishing with 27 points, 12 rebounds and five assists on 10/19 shooting from the field.
