WOMEN
Knox Raiders (78) defeated Frankston Blues (67)
The Frankston Blues fought hard in the absence of Lauren Scherf but the Knox Raiders were too much in the finish going on to score the 78-67 home victory.
The Raiders were back home at the State Basketball Centre attempting to snap a two-game losing slide ahead of hosting a Blues outfit who despite having won their last two, were without the suspended Scherf following last Sunday's win over the Bendigo Braves.
With Marta Hermida and Lou Brown still showing the way for Frankston, the visitors did start strongly with 24 points to 22 in the opening quarter.
It remained a tight contest with 23 points apiece in the second frame and by half-time it was the Blues clinging to a 47-45 advantage.
It was the third quarter where Knox made their move and outscored Frankston 25 points to 10 on the back of shooting 10/14 from the floor and limiting the Blues to going just 3/14 for the 10 minutes.
On the back of that the Raiders were able to open up a 13-point lead and then were able to stay on top the rest of the way to end up securing the 11-point victory.
The win improves Knox to an 8-3 record on the season to consolidate a top four position with Alicia Froling proving the difference with 25 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals on 9/17 shooting from the floor and 7/11 at the free-throw line.

Knox Raiders (97) defeated Frankston Blues (90)
A monster third quarter was enough for the Knox Raiders to set up their eventual 97-90 victory at home to the Frankston Blues to open Round 8 in the NBL1 South.
The Raiders were back home at the State Basketball Centre sitting two games clear on top of the standings and having won their past five matches while the Blues arrived trying to avoid a third consecutive defeat.

Frankston maintained their advantage throughout the second term and even built on the lead with another 30 points to 26 on the way to being on top 54-45 by the half-time interval.
Knox's winning run was on the line going into half-time and the league-leaders responded with a dominant third quarter where they outscored Frankston 33 points to 18 on the back of shooting 14/22 from the field.
That saw the Raiders turn a nine-point deficit into a six-point lead by three quarter-time and they remained in front the entire final quarter on the way to securing the seven-point victory.

Hobart Chargers (89) defeated Ringwood Hawks (66)
Jacob Richards continued his impressive form and led the Hobart Chargers to the emphatic 89-66 home victory against the Ringwood Hawks on Friday night.
The Chargers were back home at Hobart Netball and Sports Centre fresh off beating the Eltham Wildcats last week to snap a four-game losing streak ahead of hosting the Hawks.
Ringwood arrived also having lost their past three matches despite a star-studded line-up including NBL pair Angus Glover and Tanner Krebs, but it was the home starting the better thanks to an 11-0 run in the first quarter.
That helped the Chargers to a 22-16 lead by quarter-time with the Hawks shooting woes for the night beginning with going 1/9 from beyond the three-point arc.
The Hawks, though, did outscore the Chargers 21-16 in the second period even while still just shooting 2/8 from deep and that meant Hobart were just clinging to the 38-37 advantage by the half-time break.
It did still remain a tight contest even by three quarter-time where the Chargers were only leading by five points, but then the home team delivered a scintillating last 10 minutes of the contest on their home floor.
Hobart outscored Ringwood 31 points to 13 in the fourth quarter to turn that into an eventual 23-point victory as the home team finished with 20/32 from the foul line to just 4/6 from the Hawks.
Ringwood also shot just 6/31 from three-point territory including their NBL guns Angus Glover and Tanner Krebs combining to go 4/16.
Hobart improves to 6-5 record with the victory with Jacob Richards again playing a starring role with 22 points and nine rebounds with 9/14 shooting at the free-throw line.
Reigning NBL1 East MVP Will Cranston-Lown is settling in nicely since coming back from injury and had 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists with Ole Angerstein contributing 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Henry Makeny 11 points and five boards.
The Hawks have now lost four straight matches to sit at 3-8 on the season ahead of taking on the North West Tasmania Thunder on Saturday night.
Despite shooting just 9/19 from the field, Krebs top-scored for Ringwood with 21 points to go with five rebounds and two steals but he didn’t have a teammate that got to double-figures although Josh Tomasi did have nine points, 11 boards and two blocked shots.

RINGWOOD HAWKS 66 (Krebs 21, Glover 9, Tomasi 9)
