Ringwood Hawks veteran and reliable guard Kate Spillane has re-signed with the club for the 2021 NBL1 South season.

Spillane’s decision to re-sign with the club was an easy one after spending over a decade with the Hawks.

“Ringwood have been my family for 11 years and I couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else,” Spillane said.

When asked about her expectations of the team this year, Spillane was confident in the team’s potential.

“No matter who is in our team, we always find a way to band together and be finals contenders,” she said.

“Our team have a great mix of shooters, drivers and post presence. We also have a few players on our team who can play multiple positions on the court, which I think will make us really hard to guard.”

Hawks coach Tim Mottin is excited about the energy that Kate will bring to the team for the upcoming season.

“It’s great to have Kate back with the team as she has been a long-term player for the club. She has come through our Youth League program and she has made an immediate impact since rising to the senior ranks,” Mottin said.

“Kate is a great defender and has the ability to come on the court and create a spark with her intensity and desire. I love having Kate as a part of our close-knit family.”

Spillane joins returning team captain Danni Bone, Marena Whittle and Hajnal Nagy as the announced signings for the upcoming 2021 NBL1 South season with more announcements expected to be made shortly.
