Strong NBL1 South Representation at WNBL26 Awards Night

The WNBL celebrated its WNBL26 Awards Night last night, with several players, coaches and officials who featured in NBL1 South 2025, as well as others already announced for NBL1 South 2026, recognised for outstanding performances across the season.

The WNBL celebrated its WNBL26 Awards Night last night, with several players, coaches and officials who featured in NBL1 South 2025, as well as others already announced for NBL1 South 2026, recognised for outstanding performances across the season.

Bendigo Spirit star Isobel Borlase (Melbourne Tigers – NBL1 South 2025) claimed the Suzy Batkovic Most Valuable Player Award and was named to the WNBL First Team. Borlase delivered one of the competition’s most complete campaigns, averaging 22.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 45.6 per cent from the field and 90.7 per cent from the free-throw line.

The Betty Watson Breakout Player of the Year award was presented to Dallas Loughridge (Casey Cavaliers – signed for NBL1 South 2026), following a breakout season with the Adelaide Lightning. Loughridge’s rise continues after being named NBL1 South 2025 Youth Player of the Year, with her growth, confidence and consistency at WNBL level further underlining her emergence ahead of her return to the South.

Ballarat Miners head coach Kennedy Kereama (Ballarat Miners – NBL1 South 2025) was named WNBL Coach of the Year, recognising his leadership and impact across the campaign. His award further highlighted the strength of coaching pathways connected to the NBL1 South competition.

The Community Award was awarded to Nya Lok (Casey Cavaliers – signed for NBL1 South 2026), acknowledging her commitment to leadership, advocacy and community engagement. Lok was recognised for her work inspiring young people and giving back beyond the court.

Rounding out the night, Daniel Battye (Knox Basketball Association) was named WNBL Referee of the Year, honoured for his professionalism, consistency and composure throughout the season. Daniel was awarded NBL1 South 2025 Women's competition Referee of the Year.
