Sutherland gains Opal ahead of NBL1 East

The Sutherland Sharks have announced the signing of current Opals team member Lauren Nicholson for the 2022 Coles Express NBL1 East season.

Currently competing in the WNBL for the Townsville Fire, Nicholson returns to her junior club.

She helped the Sharks secure the 2021 Waratah League 1 Women's title, but the season was disrupted by COVID-19.

In a huge coup for the Sharks, Nicholson’s signing is key in helping the Sharks bring home the inaugural NBL1 East Women's title.

"Lauren is the best two-way player in the country so we couldn’t have hoped for a better signing," Women's Head Coach Shelley Bates said.
