The Sutherland Sharks have added Rhiann Te-Hira, Nic Feng, Georgia Genner, Olivia White, Audra Pasakarnis and Adrian Cabrera to their Coles Express NBL1 East rosters.
Having played in Waratah competitions for more than a decade, Te Hira will bolster the Sharks' back-court.
"Rhiaan is experienced and tough, two qualities that are essential in championship-contending teams," Head Coach Shelley Bates said.
"She’s been around and plays smart.
"She’s going to add a lot to our group this year so I’m stoked she’s back for another season with Sutherland."
Feng will return to the squad following an injury-plagued 2021 campaign.
Head Coach Adrian Dark said: "Nick is such an important part of our team.
"He can play big or from the perimeter and he is a really strong defender.
"Having him return for the NBL1 East season really gives us size and versatility in our small and power forward spots."
After a breakout season for the Illawarra Hawks in 2021, Pasakarnis has made the move up the highway in hope of developing her game while competing against some of the league’s best.
White will add toughness and versatility to the Sharks' front-court.
"Whitey is a veteran in this league now and her experience will be so important to our team’s journey," Bates said.
"She’s played at Sutherland her whole life, and much of that alongside Lauren Nicholson.
"Their connection, leadership and communication skills are going to help us on the journey to defend last year’s title."
Hot off the heels of being announced in the NSW Under 20 team to compete in Mackay in April, Genner will be taking her game to the next level by representing the Sutherland Shire in NBL1 East.
Part of the Under 20 NSW team that won gold last year, Genner knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level and will undoubtedly bring that competitiveness to the Shark Tank in 2022.
Having taken the previous Waratah season off, Cabrera is ready to fire for the Sharks in 2022.
Coach Dark said: "Having someone like AC join our team is amazing.
"He can guard multiple positions, plus has that ability to consistently impact the game at the offensive end making him a really versatile two-way player.
"I believe he is going to be a huge asset to this team."
