There’s been no stopping the women’s Manly Warringah Sea Eagles this season, as they’ve flew through the first nine games with eight wins.

There’s been no stopping the women’s Manly Warringah Sea Eagles this season, as they’ve flew through the first nine games with eight wins.

NBL1 East expert Jacinta Govind hinted the success of the Sea Eagles may be due to a popular coach.

Nathan Kirwan, Sea Eagles head coach, has led the men’s team to greatness in the past and Govind says his successful ways have now transferred to the women’s side.

“Manly women’s team have consistently showcased talent a lot in the NBL1 competition over the years,” Govind said on The NBL1 Show.

“The main difference being now, they’ve got coach Nathan Kirwan at the helm who had a lot of success in the past with the men’s side. It is seeing that success being transferred to the women’s side.”

Kirwan has helped the women’s side soar to first position on the ladder and an 8-1 record.

The Sea Eagles recorded a comfortable 26-point win last Saturday, taking out the Sutherland Sharks who had WNBL star Lauren Nicholson return.

Manly Warringah are on a five-game win streak, putting themselves in a position to threaten for the NBL1 East women’s championship.

“Manly-Warringah, they’re really swooping in on the competition,” Govind said.

“They’ve now knocked off a very strong Sutherland Sharks.

“Now that they’ve taken out the likes of the Sharks, the Comets and Norths Bears twice, I think we can safely say they are strong favourites for championship.”

The Sea Eagles take on the Albury-Wodonga Bandits tomorrow at 4:00pm AEST. Watch the game live and free on the NBL1 Website and NBL1 App.
