The Wolves move forward following clash with the Flames!

The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves were handed their first loss of the season against the undefeated Rockingham Flames, both teams playing with reduced rosters in Wolves Jorjah Smith, Emma Clarke and Rockingham’s star MVP Alex Sharp. With more players to arrive in the coming weeks, the Wolves look to bounce back in the Battle of Joondalup against the Warwick Senators at HBF Arena.
The Flames opened the game with an early 14-point lead as the Wolves adjusted to counter. The margin closed to 3 in the second after an offensive run by the Pack and stronger defensive effort, scoring was led by Julia Chandler and Sarah Toeaina who combined for 14 points in the second quarter. The Flames returned a run of their own, going on an 11-2 run of their own to close half-time.
Julia Chandler led the team in scoring with 19 points, 4 rebounds whilst shooting 78% from the field. Peanut Tuitele and Laniesha Paddon both contributed on the boards with 11 and 12 respectively and Sarah Toeaina finished the game with 17 points and 2 rebounds.
The Wolves hold off the Flames to secure the win
The Wolves defeated the Rockingham Flames in a nail-biting win on the road. Leading by 14 at half time, the Flames closed the distance and brought the game to within the final possession. The Wolves prevailed, securing the victory 88-77 to improve to 6-0 for the season.
The game opened with a flurry of scoring by CJ Turnage, who scored 8 of his 27 total points in the first quarter. The defensive intensity was next level from the Wolfpack, holding the Flames to just 32 in the first half and opened a 14-point advantage heading into the half time break.
Despite the lower scoring output in the second half, the Wolves defence forced a total 24 turnovers from the Flames which was a critical factor in the win. CJ Turnage led the game in scoring with 27 points and pulled in 8 rebounds. Jonathan Wade contributed 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals and Christian Jurlina had 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Guard duo Ethan Elliott and Gabe Chadinha played a crucial defensive game, taking care of the ball and facilitating the offence. Star big man Caleb Davis showed great resilience and endurance in his scoring and defensive efforts in his 150th NBL1 game.
