The South Adelaide Panthers have inked Olivia Thompson to a deal for the 2021 NBL1 Central season.
Thompson has WNBL experience, having played for the AIS, Townsville Fire, Melbourne Boomers and Perth Lynx from 2009-2018. She then took 2019 off basketball to play netball, before returning to hoops in 2020 with South Adelaide in the Adelaide Basketball Challenge, where she averaged 22.6 points per game.
The 2016 Halls Medallist can’t wait to be competing at this level again and thinks the Panthers have the ability to be a problem in NBL1 Central.
“I’m looking forward to joining the Panthers this season and what’s in store for this team,” Thompson said.
“We have already begun pre-season trainings and different team bonding activities. I really think this group will be a force in the league with some great signings. I just can’t wait to be back playing basketball back home in Adelaide with some great girls. It’s going to be awesome.”
South Adelaide’s 2021 women’s roster currently includes Thompson and Ashleigh Spencer, with more announcements to come soon.
