Two NBL1 North clubs have been crowned QSL champions, with the Logan Thunder taking out the women’s title and the Brisbane Capitals winning the men’s league.
Logan capped off an undefeated campaign with a massive 85-61 Grand Final victory over the Southern Districts Spartans.
Mikaela Ruef was the Thunder’s best in the Grand Final, amassing 27 points and 25 rebounds. She received strong support from Cassie Carroll (18 points), Mikhaela Cann (13 points, eight assists) and Ashley Taia (11 points, six rebounds).
In the men’s competition, the Capitals took down the favoured RedCity Roar in a thriller, 97-89.
Brisbane Bullets star Jason Cadee finished his sensational campaign with 39 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the Grand Final. Over his past six games of the QSL season, Cadee scored 39, 24, 43, 47, 34 and 27 points.
Jarred Bairstow also had a big Grand Final performance with 21 points and 13 rebounds, as did Nicholas Stoddart with 13 points.
Teams in Queensland will now turn their attention to the inaugural NBL1 North campaign next year.
