North West Thunder eager to send coach Nick Haywood off in style

The North West Thunder may have missed out on a play-offs berth but that does not mean that they will not have a say on who makes the final eight.  The Coastal NBL1 South side will travel south on Friday, July 14 for the final game of the home-and-away season to face intrastate rivals, Hobart Chargers.
The Chargers sit 10th and will be fighting to keep their season alive, but Thunder coach Nick Haywood is confident that his side can "spoil the party.  They will be good and are fighting for a play-offs spot so we want to spoil the party, and we'll go in guns blazing," Haywood said.  "We have to shut down Sam McDaniel and Devin Watson - they're the two keys and we'll work on that and hopefully we can come out on top. I think we can take it right up to Hobart."
It has been a mixed season for the Thunder, who have notched up just seven wins and sit 17th on the ladder.  "Guys were playing really well and it was a shame that we lost with only one shot in it against the second team on the ladder.  We've played some great basketball but we just have to stitch it together. We need four quarters and that will be the aim on Friday night."
Haywood was eager to see his leaders stand-up, and was hoping for big games from players like Viont'e Daniels, Sekou Sylla and Joe Chilcott.  "Viont'e is going to have to lock in on Devin," he said.  "I'm not sure who I'm going to play on Sam McDaniel yet, maybe Ben Woolley, maybe Joe, maybe Tre Armstrong - maybe all of them.  They might all get a turn but he's a tough cover and an elite player. If we shut those two down, we'll go a long way to winning."
Friday night's game will tip-off at 8pm.
