Having both the women’s and men’s teams make the Grand Final, expect to see the Adelaide 36ers Arena stands packed with yellow and blue. Both teams won the title in 2019 (then the Premier League), with the fans and Eagles veterans are used to this level of success with the club.
However, with the NBL1 banner and basketball only growing further in South Australia, this Grand Final is set to be one of the spectacles of the season on Saturday night.
Having played with the Eagles since 2016 (With one season in the NBL1 West), Aimee Brett explained how having both the women’s and men’s sides elevates her team’s performance.
“I think it’s so exciting. It’s such a huge thing for our club,” she told NBL Media.
“Back in 2019 when both men’s and women’s won the grand final in South Australia, that was like the most awesome experience ever. I feel like it’s just really boosting for the club.
“All the juniors come, we get so much more support when it’s men and women because everyone gets around the club, it’s lots of fun.”
Hosting record crowds during the NBL24 season, the Adelaide 36ers Arena will be packed once again come Saturday. The Eagles practice there on a Monday night, with Brett explaining it may give them an advantage against the Central Districts Lions.
“It’s super exciting being able to play there. it feels pretty familiar to us,” she said.
“So, it’s been good that we’ve trained there all season kind of leading up to this event.”
The NBL1 Central Grand Final will take place on Saturday, August 10th. Streaming live from 5:30pm ACST live and free via Kayo Freebies.
