The Mandurah Magic women scored the last 13 points to score a stunning win before the Perry Lakes Hawks overcame 71 points from Lachlan Bertram and Julian Pesava to win on the back of 45 from Matt Leary.

The big guns were back and the result was a spectacular Friday night contest with Ally Wilson ending up inspiring the Mandurah Magic to a stunning comeback 106-105 win over a Perry Lakes Hawks who welcomed back Megan McKay.
The Magic ended up scoring the last 13 points of the game in the space of just over two minutes in the most remarkable of wins at Bendat Basketball Centre in what is going to take some beating for game of the women's season.
To start with the star power was spectacular with Perry Lakes welcoming back both Megan McKay and Mia Satie to join a team already featuring Alex Fowler, Jayda Clark, Grace Stone and Amy Jacobs.
Then Ally Wilson was back in the Magic line-up for the first time since April 17 to team up with McKenna Dale, Claire Jacobs, Grace Berg and legendary games record holder Casey Mihovilovich.
The stage was set and the game delivered on that in spades and Perry Lakes started strongly with a 12-0 run in the first quarter to open up a 13-point lead capitalising on Megan McKay playing her first game with the Hawks since 2021.
Perry Lakes ended up leading 29-22 on the back of that and then maintaining a handy lead most of the rest of the way including 56-47 by half-time.
The Hawks led by as much as 15 points in the third term and were still on top 89-81 by three quarter-time after a stunning third term from both teams with Perry Lakes scoring 33 points with 14/16 at the foul line and the Magic 34 on 8/9 from three-point range.
But still with 2:30 remaining Perry Lakes remained in control with the 12-point advantage, but the Magic refused to be denied.
The Hawks wouldn’t score again and the Magic went on a scorching run starting with three balls from Ally Wilson and McKenna Dale.
Dale and Claire Jacobs then scored going to the basket too to make it a one-point game before Mandurah forced another turnover on Perry Lakes up the other end.
The Magic then had a timeout to draw up the last possession and Wilson would score on a floater going to the basketball to put Mandurah in front having scored 13 points in-a-row in just over two minutes.
Perry Lakes still had a chance with 3.1 seconds to go and eventually Jayda Clark did attempt a running jumper but that was blocked by Dale to complete the remarkable Mandurah win.
The Magic improve to 6-6 on the season with the win to break a three-game losing run with Wilson spectacular with 30 points, six rebounds and five assists with 7/13 three-point shooting.
Jacobs finished with 23 points and five assists, Dale 22 points, four assists and three rebounds, Grace Berg 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Casey Mihovilovich nine points and four assists, and Jade Gowland eight points and four rebounds.
Perry Lakes are now 4-5 with the loss with Megan McKay's return seeing her produce 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists on 6/7 shooting in 28 minutes.
Alex Fowler top-scored with 33 points, five assists and four rebounds with Jayda Clark adding 29 points, seven assists, six boards and four steals, and Amy Jacobs 14 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals.

Cockburn Cougars (103) defeated Kalamunda Eastern Suns (64)
Just in case the Cockburn Cougars hadn’t been imposing enough already, the unbeaten league-leaders got 27 points and 11 rebounds from Jessie Edwards in the 103-64 win over the bottom placed Kalamunda Eastern Suns.
Even though it was top against bottom at Wally Hagan Stadium on Friday night, the Eastern Suns had been playing better recently including breaking through for a first win against the Perry Lakes Hawks and then losing a heartbreaker on Sunday in overtime to the Joondalup Wolves.
Cockburn put their unbeaten record on the line on their home floor and started strongly with 31 points to 19 in the first quarter.
The Cougars then put up another 24 points to 12 in the second period to push that advantage out to 55-31 by the half-time interval.
That lead continued to grow through the second half and got out to 42 points in the third quarter as the Cougars completed a run of 20 straight points, and then it was out to 44 in the last term before they settled on the 39-point victory.
The win improves the Cougars to a perfect 11-0 record on the season on the back of playing in the past two grand finals with Jessie Edwards the star against her original club in just her third appearance of the season.
The 212-game championship winning centre produced 27 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals on 11/16 shooting from the field and 5/5 at the foul line.
Steph Gorman knocked down 4/9 from deep for 20 points, seven rebounds and six steals while Jewel Williams was also against her original club and delivered 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds for the Cougars on 4/9 three-point shooting.
Ruby Porter also had 15 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals with Sarah Mortensen's absence not enough to stop the dominant Cockburn performance.
The Eastern Suns remain in bottom spot at 1-9 with Karly Murphy ending up in a fascinating battle with Jessie Edwards and providing 22 points, 23 rebounds, four assists and two steals on 9/27 shooting.
Emma Strelein added 10 points and four assists for the Suns, Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant 10 points and three rebounds, Denae Civich nine points, three boards and two assists, and Alyssa Bowen nine points.

Jermaine Malie hit the shot of his life to force overtime but it was a career night from Matt Leary with 45 points that saw the Perry Lakes Hawks overcome a combined 71 points from Julian Pesava and Lachlan Bertram to beat the Mandurah Magic 120-115.
The Hawks and Magic came into the Friday night match up at Bendat Basketball Centre clinging to the bottom two positions in the top eight, but nothing could have predicted the spectacular 235-point overtime spectacle that was to come.
The defending champion Magic were looking to avoid consecutive losses and they were leading 29-21 by the end of the first quarter thanks to shooting 11/21 from the field opposed to the 7/15 from the Hawks.
Perry Lakes did manage to outscore Mandurah 24 points to 19 in the second term with 5/12 shooting from downtown which saw the Hawks cut the lead of the Magic at half-time to 48-45.
The two teams then combined for 62 points in the third quarter while combining to shoot 25/32 from the field. The fact they only missed seven shots between highlights the quality of play with the Magic building on their lead with 32 points to 30.
Mandurah was back up by 10 once more in the last quarter and still by six with 1:45 to play before Perry Hawks knocked down three three-point bombs in the space of a minute with the first to Jaden Stanley-Williams and the next two to Matt Leary.
That helped the Hawks to a three-point with Mandurah having one final possessions for championship coach Mark Utley to draw up.
It ended up with a three ball on the pass from Julian Pesava to 136-game veteran guard Jermaine Malie, and that would force the game into overtime with the Hawks unable to score at the buzzer up the other end.
Then in the extra period, Leary got himself up over 40 points to help Perry Lakes to the seven-point lead inside the first two and-a-half minutes.
The Magic did respond with a 7-2 run including a triple from Pesava to be back within two but they wouldn’t score again and the Hawks sealed the deal at the foul line courtesy of Keegan Phillips and Stanley-Williams.
As a result of the win, Perry Lakes improves to 6-5 on the season with Matt Leary finishing with the best performance of his 139-game career with 45 points and four assists on 15/26 shooting from the floor and 10/17 from three-point territory.
Jaden Stanley-Williams also had 25 points, eight rebounds and two steals on 5/8 shooting from downtown, Luke Phillips 21 points, five rebounds and four assists, Nick Floyd 12 points and five boards, and Davin Miller nine points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Despite the loss, Mandurah received huge performances from championship pair Julian Pesava and Lachlan Bertram.
Pesava finished with 40 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals on 14/26 from the field, 4/10 from downtown and 8/12 at the foul line with Bertram delivering 31 points and four assists with 7/11 shooting from three-point range.
Sammie Freeman added 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots, Jahcoree Ealy 11 points, eight boards, seven assists and three steals, and Cooper Lowe four points, six assists and three rebounds.

Cockburn Cougars (80) lost to Kalamunda Eastern Suns (104)
Scoring hasn’t always come easy for the Kalamunda Eastern Suns in 2025 but Terrico White and Marshall Nelson combined for 47 points in their 104-80 road win over the Cockburn Cougars.
The Cougars were back home at Wally Hagan Stadium and with just one win so far this season but they had been playing much better than that suggests including only losing their past three matches by a combined nine points.
The Suns arrived having also lost their last couple to slip outside the top eight and while having only scored in triple-figures once this season, and averaging just 81 points a game including coming off a 68-point outing last Sunday in a loss to the Joondalup Wolves.
The Eastern Suns did welcome back dual championship winner Marshall Nelson into the line-up and as a result put up 31 points in the first quarter, but the Cougars did well to stick with them with 29 themselves.
Kalamunda kept that pace up in the second term with another 28 points to 20 to head into the half-time break on top 59-49 in what had been an offensive explosion for them.
The Suns went on with the job with another 26 points to 17 in the third frame to lead by as much as 19 points with that advantage growing to 25 in the fourth quarter.
The Eastern Suns ended up securing the 24-point victory from there to put themselves right back in the playoff race with a 5-7 record.
Terrico White showed encouraging signs of what he is still capable of with 25 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals on 5/10 three-point shooting.
Marshall Nelson added 22 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals, Lewis Thomas 12 points, three boards and two steals, Joel Vaiangina 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and three blocks, Jhye Stoker 10 points, four boards and two steals, and Marley Sam eight points, seven assists, six steals and five rebounds.
The Cougars have now lost their past six matches to sit on a 1-11 record having conceded 104 points to a team only averaging 81 so far this season.
Kortland Martin finished with 25 points and four assists for Cockburn and Terrandus Smith 22 points, five rebounds and three steals with 6/11 three-point shooting.
That meant that the Cougars imports combined to score 47 of their 80 points on shooting 19/35 from the field compared with the 33 points in total from the rest of the team on 13/41 field goal shooting.
