It is with great pleasure we announce the re-signing of American Import and Wildcat favourite Hailey Leidel. Hailey is no stranger to Eltham and NBL1 South, with this being her third year with the Wildcats.
Leidel, who was born and raised in Brownstown, Michigan in the USA has played professionally in Luxenberg, Greece, Sweden and most recently in Slovakia last year where she averaged 17.7ppg.
The 26-year-old is set to make a big impact on and off the court in the Wildcat community this season.
“Hailey’s impact at Eltham is felt both on and off the court by her ability to connect with everyone within the club. She has shown she’s a high calibre player in our league with her ability to shoot the ball at an elite level, but it is the other areas of her game I am looking forward to her showing throughout the year,” said head coach Matt Bongetti.
The 5’11 shooting guard averaged 22ppg, 3apg and 7rpg in 2023 where she was a key catalyst for the Wildcats first ever NBL1 South Finals appearance.
“I couldn’t be more grateful & excited to be back playing for Eltham this season,” said Leidel.
“I love the family culture we’ve built among not only our team but the club as a whole & it’s made this a really special place to play.
“We have a good group of girls with some new faces & extra motivation from our semi-final run last season. I can’t wait for the season to get going.”
You can see Hailey and our NBL1 teams in action this Saturday night when the season tips off at Montmorency Secondary College against local rivals the Diamond Valley Eagles. Tickets and season memberships are on sale now.
