Wildcat Stars Return

The Eltham Wildcats are proud to announce the return of Rebecca Pizzey, Taylah Wynne, Lilly Amor & Lily Scanlon for the 2024 NBL1 South Season.

Pizzey is the centre stone and leader of the Eltham Wildcats squad, last season she averaged 14ppg & 8rpg but it was her defence that most influenced the game where she averaged a team best 1.79 blocks per game.

Pizzey is the UC Capitals WNBL Defensive player of the Year and Head Coach Matt Bongetti knows how crucial her role is for the team.

“Really excited to have Pizz back for another season with us at Eltham.

“I believe she’s the best defender in the league with her ability to guard multiple positions, which anchors our defence. She has developed into a great leader and someone who impacts the entire club in a positive way.”

Point Guard Lily Scanlon returns after averaging 15ppg & 4apg last season in limited games due to injury. The crafty guard can change the game with her play making abilities and WNBL experience.

“Lily has had a tough couple of years with injury, but what has been evident throughout is the high-quality teammate she has been,” said Bongetti.

“It was clear from her games last season what a difference maker she is and I am looking forward to seeing her get back out on the floor in 2024 and play at that high level again.”

Taylah Wynne returns for her third year at the Wildcats with her versatility a valuable asset for the team and coach Bongetti.

“Tay coming back is really exciting for our group. Her ability to be a leader and connect everyone is important. She has shown her ability to shoot the ball consistently over the last couple of seasons at Eltham as well as add to other areas of her game.”

Wynne averaged 8.29ppg & 2.25apg last year and was a difference maker in a number of games including her season high 18 points against Geelong.

Lily Amor is a 19-year-old dynamic guard who returns for her sophomore season at the Wildcats. Amor was a great addition to the team in 2023 and she will prove to be another key contributer in NBL1 2024.

“Lilly’s ability to guard multiple positions defensively was important in the back end of the season for us. Her improvement has been massive over the last 12 months due to her work ethic. She is a knockdown shooter who I am looking forward to seeing her develop her game even more this season,” said Bongetti.

You can see all four Wildcat stars in action this Saturday night when the season tips off at Montmorency Secondary College against local rivals the Diamond Valley Eagles. Tickets and season memberships are on sale now.
