Ralph Bissainthe has arrived in Melbourne’s North East as the Eltham Wildcats second import signing for the 2024 NBL1 South Season.
The 6’7 athletic forward is from North Miami, Florida and played college basketball at Illinois-Chicago, Florida SouthWestern State and Central Michigan.
More recently Bissainthe played professionally in Sweden, UK and last year in Croatia where he averaged 14ppg and 5.9rpg.
"When recruiting RB [Bissainthe], we prioritised his fit both with the culture here at Eltham Wildcats and the skill sets of the playing group we have been building the past couple of seasons,” said Head Coach Craig Stratford.
“He was a standout for us in both of these areas. Having already gained some international experience playing in Sweden, Croatia and the UK, we think he will adjust quickly to the game style played here in NBL1 south and be a quality player in this league. We are excited to have RB with us in 2024."
The 25-year-old is a dynamic play maker who can play both ends of the court, get his own shot and create highlight reels in the blink of an eye.
“I’m extremely blessed and excited to play for a growing and winning club in Eltham,” expressed Bissainthe.
“I’ve heard nothing but great things from the Aussies I know, and I’m elated to be a part of their family type culture.
“This will be my first time playing in this continent and ready to bring my talents to this stage. Coach and I have had several conversations about what he thinks I can bring to this team and how this will be a great opportunity for me. Can’t wait to suit up in the red & black.”
You can see RB and the Eltham Wildcat NBL1 teams in action this Saturday night when the season tips off at Montmorency Secondary College against local rivals the Diamond Valley Eagles. Tickets and season memberships are on sale now.
