Will 'Davo' Hickey signs with Sydney Comets

NBL superstar Will 'Davo' Hickey has signed with the NBL1 East's Sydney Comets for the 2025 season. 

Coming off an impressive stint in the NZNBL, Hickey will return home to Sydney for a handful of games before trying his luck in the NBA's Summer League.

In seven games, he averaged 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists for Auckland. While last NBL1 East season with Albury-Wodonga, he was named the co-Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Star Five. 

Hickey is one of the greatest NBL1 success stories, developing his game with multiple clubs between NBL deals to lock in the current three-year contract he's on (Melbourne Tigers, Ballarat Miners, Casey Cavaliers, Illawarra Hawks and Albury-Wodonga).

He is coming off a historic run in NBL25, becoming arguably the most important piece to the Illawarra Hawks' championship. He was so impressive in fact, series MVP Matthew Dellavedova, unprecedentedly gave his award to Hickey after the Hawks won the series. 

He'll join Biwali Bayles and Obi Kyei on the Comets' roster.

“I’m really excited to be back playing at my junior club," Hickey said.

"It’s been a long time and just excited to be around the boys. I’m a competitor and just want to win."
