Each week the NBL1 will put a spotlight on a women’s and men’s team from each conference for a major performance, a big win or a special occasion for the club.
See the women's Teams of the Week below:
NBL1 East: Maitland Mustangs
While both teams have locked in their finals spot, the Mustangs sit below the Falcons on the standings and wanted to make a statement before the start of the NBL1 East Finals.
With seconds left on the clock, Nicole Munger pulled up for three to tie the game - before Rachel Williams escaped a screen to block the shot and pull off a jaw-dropping win, handing the Falcons their first loss at home for the season.
NBL1 North: Townsville Flames
The reigning NBL1 North champions snapped their losing streak in the final regular season round.
In the last two games, they fell short against the Northside Wizards and Rockhampton Cyclones, but finished Round 16 with a 20-point win over USC Rip City.
Alex Fowler had an outstanding game with 26 points and 11 rebounds to keep the Flames in the NBL1 North Finals race.
NBL1 South: Sandringham Sabres
The Sandringham Sabres are red-hot going to the NBL1 South Conference Finals.
They demolished the Frankston Blues by 33 points on Saturday, with Funda Nakkasolgu going off with 22 points while four others scored 10 points or more.
But Sunday’s win didn’t come as easy. The Melbourne Tigers held strong but the Sabres eventually claimed the four-point win, off the back of Brittany Smart knocking down two clutch free throws to widen the margin with 12 seconds left.
Their successful Round 14 pushed them up the standings where they will now face the reigning NBL1 South champions, the Ringwood Hawks, in a do-or-die match on Saturday, from 6:00pm streaming via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App here.
NBL1 West: Eastern Suns
The Eastern Suns are on the edge of Finals contention and this past round kept them in the hunt.
Beating the East Perth Eagles at home, the Suns were outstanding, scoring 25 points or more in three quarters on Saturday.
With 26 points from Natalie Chou, the Suns are a scary eighth seed and will have to face the 17-2 Cockburn Cougars on Friday night.
Watch the game live from 6:30pm AWST via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App here.
NBL1 Central: Sturt Sabres
The Grand Final runners-up have made a statement, returning to the NBL1 Central and not losing a single game going into the Finals.
The last win didn’t come easy, with a last-minute bucket that was waived off from the Eastern Mavericks. Find out what happened via The NBL1 Show below:
