See the women's Teams of the Week below:
NBL1 South: Knox Raiders
The Knox Raiders snapped a five-game losing streak on Friday against Alice Kunek’s Nunawading Spectres.
The reigning NBL1 South MVP Alicia Froling dropped 24 points, 12 rebounds and two assists while Kiera Rowe had a huge game from outside with six made triples.
The Spectres have won two straight games and have been even more dangerous with the addition of Alice Kunek.
But the Raiders are hopefully back on track after this win, hoping to make a Finals run the same as they did last season.
NBL1 North: Brisbane Capitals
The Capitals have won three games straight and are proving they are a tough team despite losing their star Abby Cubillo to an ACL injury,
On The NBL1 Show, NBL1 North expert Jon Guarna explained that Mia Loyd has stepped up into that star role for the Capitals.
“But the players have stepped up, and particularly Mia Loyd, she has been phenomenal for the Caps,” he said.
“I know that they would be disappointed and we’re all disappointed that Abby is hurt because that was such a dynamic backcourt. Since Abby has been out, Mia has really put even more on her shoulders and she is delivering.”
With 26 points, nine rebounds and five assists against Red City in Round 11, it’s easy to see why Guarna thinks Loyd has become the star for Brisbane.
NBL1 West: Warwick Senators
The reigning NBL1 National Champions had an important Round 11.
On Friday night the Warwick Senators handed the ninth-placed East Perth Eagles a 59-point loss, helping the Senators climb to seventh. On Saturday they were a putback lay-up away from giving the Cockburn Cougars their first loss of the season.
The Senators are now 6-6 and are making strides each week to recapture the magic of last season. Across Round 11 Karly Murphy, Stacey Barr, Natalie Burton, Kyana Weir and Chloe Forster all scored in double-digits – showing the diversity in the scoring palate of the Senators.
