The Mount Gambier Pioneers have announced the signing of WNBL guard Hannah Young for the upcoming NBL1 South season.
Young played with the Newcastle Hunters in the New South Wales Waratah competition in 2020. Previous to that, Young had experience with the University of Canberra Capitals and the Townsville Fire in the WNBL.
"To add WNBL talent to our first NBL1 women’s programme roster is hugely exciting for our basketball club," President Tom Kosch said.
"Our club prides itself on bringing good people and welcoming them to the wider Mount Gambier and Limestone Coast community."
Young is the third signing of players coming from a WNBL back ground that will complement the Pioneers' NBL1 South roster.
"Hannah’s addition to the roster along with Shakera Rielly and Sherrie Calleia not only add’s talent to our roster but provides an opportunity for our up and coming local players to learn from athletes who have played at a national level, along with being aspirational about the pathway that is provided for them in Mount Gambier."
All three players will play significant roles within the team’s rotation – whilst the club hopes to add a few additional players to complement the clubs women’s roster ahead of the NBL1 South season starting at home against Bendigo on the 17th of April, 2021.
