The University of Sunshine Coast Rip City have signed rising star Ashleigh Blake for the inaugural NBL1 North season.

Rip City women's coach Jamie Glover said the developing centre is working hard to earn her spot in the lineup after limited minutes last year due to final year school commitments at Mountain Creek High School.

“We are looking forward to seeing Ashleigh step up on the main stage this season,” Glover said.

“Ashleigh brings some inside presence to the squad after a good under-21’s campaign.”

The 189cm Queensland junior representative joins Meghan Ditchburn, Liisa Ups and Layla Prince as the first four signings on the squad.

“I've really enjoyed my past two seasons here and I love the environment that surrounds this club," Blake said.

“I've gained a lot from our coaching staff as well as my incredible teammates, who have all taught me so much as a young player in this league.

“The facilities that USC has to offer are incredible and the amount of support I have received from everyone since being here is something I am very thankful for. I’m really excited to see how we go in the first official NBL1 North season this year.”
