Youth League Women's Game 1

The first game of our double header weekend with a few injuries meant we started the weekend a bit light on for numbers. We didn't come out the blocks the way we wanted to and got out rebounded in the first by a much taller Craigieburn outfit. Some small adjustments enabled us to win the overall rebound count by games end with a few girls battered & bruised. We were able to control the game with some sold 1v1 defence and great execution on offence. Madison Ammavatu was dominant and got to the basket when she felt like it - she finished with 22pts, 5rbs, 4as and 5st. Maisy Hammond had another dominant game, continuing her great form this season. Finished with 22pts & 18rbs. It was a great start to the weekend.

Ballarat 76 - 58 Craigieburn

Youth League Women's Game 2

This was always going to be a tough second game for the weekend with a few sore bodies from the night before. Camberwell beat us by one point earlier this season in overtime and with them second on the ladder, it was going to be a test. The team played their hearts out and again played some great 1v1 defence throughout the game.

Adjustments to our offence saw us ticking over the scoreboard and keeping scores relatively level throughout. It was a well rounded performance with contributions to the score coming from multiple players. The team again faced a much bigger/taller team and won the rebound count on the night. The girls did not give up and showed just great poise & patience at the death and took the W 63-58 in a very successful weekend.

Ballarat 63 - 58 Camberwell

Madison Ammavuta 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Emmie Moran 14 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals

Youth League Men

An absolute nail biter for the Miners men Sunday at the Minerdome. An OT thriller in which saw a back and forth affair right from the jump ball. 30 lead changes and 15 ties of score throughout the contest however Diamond Valley prevailed. A game heavily driven by the Miners defence saw us control most of the contest however, when it came down to it Diamond Valley stuck to their system and were able to pull away in overtime. A massive performance from Will Hynes (31 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists) wasn’t enough as the Miners fell just short.

Ballarat 81 - Diamond Valley 87
