The Albury-Wodonga Bandits have signed their first import, bringing in sharpshooter Riley Lupfer for the 2025 NBL1 East season.
NBL1 fans may be familiar with the name, having played for the South’s Launceston Tornadoes back in 2023 where she averaged 15.1 points and shot 39.7 per cent from outside the arc. Lupfer spent 2024 back home in the United States working on a business venture.
After an undefeated 20-0 season, coach Sam McDonald and his staff identified perimeter shooting as a weak point of their offence last season. Particularly shown in their straight-set losses in the Finals, shooting 8/45 (17.7 per cent) from three-point land.
“She had a great career at Boise State (University), we really liked the footage we saw,” he said on 7NEWS Border.
“When we sat down and had a chat with her, she came across as a really, really good fit for our program.”
With the additions’ of Western Australia product Caitlyn Jones and now Lupfer, this should be an issue of the past.
