Reigning NBL1 North women’s champions the Logan Thunder have gone undefeated in the 2022 NBL1 North season.
The team went 19-0 in the regular season, as well as one win against the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence in the NBL1 Wildcard.
Basketball Queensland Operations Manager and NBL1 North League Manager, Chris Angus, congratulated the Thunder on their successful regular season.
"Congratulations to the Logan Thunder Women on a perfect regular season. They have certainly been the benchmark all season long and to go through undefeated is an incredible effort in such a competitive league,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing whether they can keep the streak going as we progress through the conference finals as they try to defend their title."
Logan’s coach Brayden Heslehurst said Logan not only wants to repeat as conference champions, but they want to win the NBL1 National Final.
He said the secret to the team’s success has been their young stars, in particular the 19-year-old Indiah Bowyer, who averaged over 10 points per game this season.
Logan star Mikaela Ruef, who has had a 50-point game and is in the conversation for MVP, said the Northern conference is as good as any other on the Coles Express NBL1 Show this season.
“We think the [NBL1] North is as good as any other league in the competition,” she said.
“We would really love the chance to repeat and then go down and win the national competition. I think we could, the North teams are better than the South ones.”
