Darwin Salties guard Sean MacDonald received the Most Improved Player award last night at the NBL24 Andrew Gaze Award Night.
Taking out the award against NBL1 North champion and Youth Player of the Year Jaylin Galloway, MacDonald finished with 48 votes to Galloway’s 40. While Brisbane Bullets center Tyrell Harrison finished third with 36.
MacDonald explained he was shocked to receive the award.
“Absolutely, I am definitely surprised,” he told Jack Heverin.
“Jaylin Galloway had a hell of a year and I thought he was going to win it for sure. And Tyrell, an unbelievable year too.”
The Tasmania JackJumpers development player has been a key part of their rotation this season, averaging 7.4 points, 2.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds for the Finals team.
For the second season in a row, MacDonald will play for the Darwin Salties – re-signing with the team in early February.
Last season he averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 assists and 4.6 assists for Darwin, leading them to the first round of Finals before losing to the Logan Thunder.
The JackJumpers will host the Illawarra Hawks on Wednesday, February 28th in the Seeding Qualifier live on ESPN via Kayo.
