Miners appoint Australian National Coach for 2022 Season

The Ballarat Miners have announced the appointment of 2021 Australian Gems U19 Silver Medal winning Head Coach David Herbert as the Miners Women’s coach for the 2022 NBL1 South season.

The Ballarat Miners have announced the appointment of 2021 Australian Gems U19 Silver Medal winning Head Coach David Herbert as the Miners Women’s coach for the 2022 NBL1 South season.
Herbert is the current Head of Basketball at Western Heights College where he leads a progressive model of learning that provides students with the skills, knowledge and values to shape their futures and contribute meaningfully.
After coaching the Melbourne Tigers women in 2021, Herbert is looking forward to a new challenge in Ballarat next season.
"What an exciting opportunity to join the Ballarat Miners," Herbert said.
"I am very proud to fill coaching the role after such an amazing club legend Eric Hayes decided to step away.
"I have always admired Eric and hope he continues in some way with a club he has helped build and grow over many years.
Chair of the Ballarat Elite Teams Committee, Cam Moore states: "David as a coach has a very strong reputation of being able to develop players and is keen to work with local talent from Ballarat and the Western District."
Basketball Ballarat CEO, Nev Ivey states: "David’s experience at a national level and as a high-performance coach with Basketball Victoria provides our Club with a tremendous level of confidence that he will further develop our program over the next three years."
