Sunshine Coast Phoenix 83 def by Southern Districts Spartans 100

A team effort from Southern Districts Spartans helped them come away with a 100-83 road win against Sunshine Coast Phoenix at Maroochydore Stadium on Sunday.

All 12 Spartans registered on the box score in points and rebounds. They were led by guard CJ Massingale with 20 points while Lamar Patterson (pictured) tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.

Noah Thomas (15 points), Josh Derksen (10 points), and Samuel Korst (10 points) also scored in double figures for the visitors.

Sunshine Coast guard Jamaal Robateau scored a game-high 24 points, while Darnell Robateau tallied 21 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and six steals.

Jarred Bairstow, in his second game for the Phoenix after playing in the NBL finals for Perth, tallied 22 points and eight rebounds.

The Spartans (5-4) take on Mackay (6-2) on Saturday night while Phoenix (4-5) host Logan (8-0) on Saturday night.

Brisbane Capitals 87 def by Ipswich Force 90

Ipswich Force sealed their fourth straight win with a gritty fightback to beat Brisbane Capitals 90-87 at Auchenflower Stadium on Sunday.

With guard Nathan Sobey named in the Australian Olympic team this week, the Force looked to a new three-point shooting clutch hero in Isaac White. The Ipswich guard, who scored a game-high 35 points, hit the go-ahead treble with 15 seconds left on the clock.

As crucial to the Force win was Ipswich centre Matthew Hodgson with a block at one end and a three-pointer the other to take an 85-84 lead with 41 seconds remaining. Hodgson (10 points, 10 rebounds) registered his seventh block as the Capitals looked for the game-winner in the last 10 seconds.

The Ipswich attack also got contributions from Jason Ralph (15 points including the game’s final two free throws), James Ringholt (15 points), and Ryan Jeffries (10 points).

Brisbane guard Nicholas Stoddart scored a team-high 19 points. The Capitals also had five players score in double figures with Ben Volkman (16 points), Jacob Wilson (13 points), Ben Wilson (12 points), and Timothy Soong (10 points).

The Capitals (6-4) host Mackay (6-2) on Friday night while the Force (4-4) await South West Metro Pirates (2-6) on Sunday.
