Three-time WNBL champion Leilani Mitchell will take the next step in her illustrious career via the Coles Express NBL1 East, coaching the Maitland Mustangs’ women’s team in 2022.
Mitchell, 36, is coming off a WNBA campaign with the Washington Mystics and an Olympic Games representing Australia in Tokyo.
She will join the Mustangs at the end of the WNBL season, where she will represent the Bendigo Spirit.
In the WNBL, Mitchell has been named in the All-Star Five team three times and is a two-time Grand Final Most Valuable Player.
In the WNBA, the point guard was twice named the competition’s Most Improved Player during her 13-year career.
Maitland has also re-signed Waratah Champions League coach of the year Luke Boyle as head coach of the men's team, making a solid start to their NBL1 East rosters.
