Cairns sign championship-winning coach

NBL1 West championship-winning coach Marcus Wong has signed with the Cairns Dolphins (women's) to be their head coach for the 2025 NBL1 North season. 

Wong has an extensive coaching resume, as a former NBL1 West Coach of the Year and championship-winning assistant coach of the WNBL’s Townsville Fire. 

Last season with the Rockingham Flames, Wong led his side to the Grand Final and claimed victory over the then-defending champions -- the Cockburn Cougars

Having success in Northern Queensland already, Wong is set to bring in a proven track record and likely some star recruit to bring the Dolphins back to the finals for the first time since 2022. 

The NBL1 North season starts May 1st.
