The Brisbane Capitals have announced four signings for their 2021 NBL1 North women’s team.

Brooke Blair, Steph Collins, Madie Woodford and Emma Read have all commited to Brisbane for the upcoming campaign.

Blair debuted for the NZ Tall Ferns in 2016 and is a North Harbour Junior. She attended college at Idaho State where she was named on the Bengals Team of the Decade after three strong seasons and leading the team in scoring. After graduating, she played two QBL seasons for the Rockhampton Cyclones where she averaged 17 points per game.

Originally from Melbourne, Collins began her basketball as a Southern Sabres junior before being offered a scholarship to the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence in 2012. She has represented Australia multiple times as a junior prior to attending the D1 SMU Mustangs where she set multiple records including the single season record for blocks (73). She has recently played SEABL (now NBL1 South) for Diamond Valley.

Woodford is Brisbane’s longest serving player, making her debut in 2015 and playing all her juniors for Brisbane Capitals. She grew up in the Basketball Queensland system making U16 and U18 State teams. Woodford consistently delivers, averaging 11 points and five assists over her career as well as being awarded MVP and DPOY in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Read grew up in the Basketball Queensland FDP and SPP pathways and played her juniors with Brisbane Capitals. She captained the QLD State team to two Silver Medals at Nationals in 2014 and 2016. Read made her debut for Capitals in the QBL in 2016 and this will be her sixth season with the senior program.
